I'm dangerously close to doing it. I read [MENTION=13598]Gibbo205[/MENTION] 's fantastic thread on his upgrades (http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46118) and was hooked by the description of the improvements he achieved.

Regrettably, I didn't have the first clue what was being talked about so I set about trying to read around it. Decided in the end that I probably couldn't appreciate the difference between the Steeda linear ultralite springs he recommended and the Ford Racing progressives included in the track pack and could save myself a bunch of money by just getting the track pack along with the other bits and pieces he recommends save the spacers which I am currently trying to work out if I can achieve the same result when I swap out my wheels further down the line by getting different widths with the right offsets. Although frankly, before last night I didn't know that offsets were even a topic so I'm on a steep learning curve. I've reached out to ModurStang who have been really helpful and who I think I will get to do the work for me because I am a mechanical imbecile. Only downside is ModurStang are a fair old trip from Yorkshire but I am sure I can find an entertaining route and their reputation seems unparalleled.

A word of caution.

With no disrespect to Gibbo, whilst it's tempting to read forum reviews as being 'gospel' you also need to be honest with yourself in terms of how you drive the car and what gains you will be able to extract from a given modification vs your ability to exploit it.

For example, buying a '69 Fender Stratocaster will not make you Eric Clapton (though by way of a contemporary example, buying s vocoder and sampler ill put you on a par with Kanye West) :)

Back to topic - I have the track pack (well, bar anti roll bars) and, if it's anything like the kit I had on my S197, whilst it will tighten up the road handling, you won't really be able to exploit in in every day driving as the car is very well setup as standard.

The cheapest mod you will ever make, is some decent seat time with a good instructor.

Gibbo has done a great job of documenting his findings, but these are subjective - not empiracle. Again, not disrespect to Gibbo, but many years of building, modifying and racing cars has taught me to believe about 10% of what you hear and even less in terms of what really works.

The temptation for modify/'improve' the car is huge - but the weakest component is largely that which is sat in the driving seat :)

Thanks and noted. Months ago when I first thought the car might be here in January, I identified and contacted an instructor about road tuition to help me get the most out of the car and avoid stacking it on a roundabout so yes - first mod I suppose will be me.

No dis-respect taken buddy. :)

But do not dismiss my knowledge, I've being go-karting since I was a kid, I've being fortunate to drive and own some great sports cars, 911, Cayman, M3, GTR, S2000, Boxster and had plenty of seat time in some nice exotica and have around 100 track days under my bolt and a few competitive events which I won. :)

It is also why in my guide to the suspension I suggested a Stage 1 and Stage 2 package, for the majority of people Stage 1 is what transforms the looks and gets rid of the rubberised feeling from the rear. I did make it clear Stage 2 I felt was not for everyone and more for those with plenty of seat time who want the best and can take advantage of it. :)

The track pack is fantastic value and for most it will be all they need as it does make a noticeable difference to the car and the progressive springs will be fine. :)


But yes if you want to go faster well as the Americans say #driver mod

I've got the full kit in my garage, will give it a month or so before fitting, at the minute, I have no idea how this car handles, only having a short test drive (this will change this afternoon :)).

I may fit some or all of it, I'm used to a stiffer, flatter handling car and what I now have to judge is he stock 'floatiness', the stance needs changing IMO, but I would only do this to improve both look and handling.

The FRPP Track Pack is not a lot of money for what it is, but I'm not on an unlimited budget, so it suits in terms of price and bang for buck. One can only assume that this kit has been developed to work together and, to come with no fitment problems.

We can all get caught up in others mods, I know what I want and I believe it'll give me what I want, out the packet.

I take inspiration from Gibbo's posts, however, I had mine first :lol:, he's the 'research and development' arm of the forum :thumbsup:

My advice, one part at a time, take it in and see if you like it, I ended up removing some parts simply as the effect was not to my liking.

Plus when you fit everything at once and if you get a problem trying to diagnose it can be very time consuming.

I would echo gibbos advice - the FRPP pack on my s197 was fitted all at one and something was not right - took me a lot of pouncing about to find the solution.

It is partly why I have gone for KW3 as I want adjustability and the price premium on the FRPP is not so significant after shipping and is taken in to account as the KW3 is available in EU. I am paring with eibach roll bars and BMR lock out cradle
