The RS is a much more driver focused car than the Mustang (eg only comes in manual etc) but I just couldn't live with the spoiler and massive exhausts! Styling wise the Mustang wins hands down

Noise wise, the Mustang wins hands down as well, that's one of the reasons why I cancelled my RS order

Just because a car doesn't come with an auto doesn't mean it's more "driver focused". And, these days, a modern and not half-assed auto w/paddle shifters is superior to the traditional manual in performance pretty much 100% of the time.

While you and I may prefer a manual, if you've ever carved a canyon road with a PDK transmission in a Porsche using paddle shifters, never having to remove both hands from the wheel and never having to operate a clutch pedal which can shift your weight and affect your control of the steering wheel, it is more driver focused than any stick shift on this earth. That's why the keep putting those kinds of transmissions in sports cars... 'cuz they're more driver focused. :)

You're 100% correct Manders. It's also bollocks.

Look at what's involved: parts manufacture? Already done. Shipping to UK/Europe? No different to them shipping regular parts over from the US. Unsure of demand? They grossly underestimated demand for the car and they seem determined to make the same mistake with upgrades (or, as I suspect, it's all about the yanks and the rest of the world can wait in line).

These packs will sell over here. How many? No idea, but I don't see that syphoning off two or three hundred to send them over to us/europe to get an idea is going to put a major dent in their US operation and yet here we are; no upgrades whatsoever to date, no ETA, not even an announcement that they've definitely decided to release them over here.

All that said, it should come as no surprise since the order/build process is still a shambles in terms of getting information to customers.
Ford's tune in the US is 50-state legal. That includes the "Country of California" - the hardest one to abide by. Europe has different emissions laws. From my time living in Germany, that resulted typically in cars having more power than their otherwise exact US brothers and sisters. Logically, the tune for Europe would be different. That said, other the original base tune, how are EU cars so different that you can't just sneak over a tune bought in the US to the EU right now? Are you all running different blinker fluid or something?

I'm not going to turn this into a manual/auto debate but while auto is more efficient and quicker - a manual is obviously more driver focused/involved than an auto. Just look at this video as to why Porsche made the GT4 manual only. Why Aston Martin are coming back to manual and GT350 is manual only.

After penning a deep and involving email to Pierre Bonnet, highlighting customer service, the passion and love of the Mustang owner community, and how offering the power packs to their faithful here in the UK is only going to be a good thing for us and Ford, I received the following reply:-

"Thanks for your email" - good start

"We will of course keep the forum members informed" - getting better, feeling positive about this now

"if/when we are ready" - Hold on!

"Rgds, Pierre" - You what! :frusty: Where's the rest of the email stating we won't let you down and they are imminent here in the UK :brokenheart:

Bloody hell

I am getting the distinct feeling that Ford UK do not give a flying shit about UK customers, my car is still of the road for a flipping gasket for the oil cooler.

Can't remember if it's been mentioned in here already, upgrades now available for the Focus RS...

http://www.blog.mountune.com/index....-performance-by-mountune-upgrade-for-focus-rs

£900 for 25 ish horsepower and seemingly only one company to purchase it from, I wonder if it will only be available through one company in the States.

With regards to the Mustang kits, it will be interesting to see how they are marketed over here, I bet we won't be able to experience price competition like they do in the States (I realise its a smaller audience over here)

RS before the Mustang :eyebulge:

£900 :eyebulge: ((Who am I kidding, I would pay that for the stage 2 pack (although I am now leaning on the side of a PMAS CAI with the stage 1 - if it ever comes out here))
