Hi all.
Forgive me if it’s been asked & answered before. I did a search & google search but yielded no results.
Im having the mod itch & am thinking about purchasing the Ford Power Pack 2. I live in Alaska and the highest octane we have is 90.
I understand that I can get octane booster but can this tune run just fine with 90 octane?
My car is a 2017 mustang GT btw.

thanks in advance.

Octane is altitude dependent. I'd call Ford Performance and ask. Might have to ask for a supervisor to by pass the order takers.

Just an observation. We have 93 here and I cannot run FRPP timing tables without knock. It is not false, when I add E85 it goes away.

I appreciate your reply. I called a local gear head buddy of mine whose said to reach out to Ford too. I’ll get on the phone with them & see what they say.
I was digging through the Ford Power Pack 2 thread & read a few stories about pinging etc. Had me worried so I thought I’d check to see if the wrong octane would maybe cause this.

I haven’t messed with E85. So this may be something I look into. Thanks again.

The PP2 is a nice tune. Loved it on my 2016. That being said, I wouldn’t do it unless you have access to 91+.

If you call them, the official answer is no, don't do it. However, if you have E85 available locally, you can blend a few gallons of that with the 90 to bring the effective octane up. Or use a booster. If you're above 4000 feet you might get away with the straight 90.

Ping with these kits in certain situations on 91 seems inevitable, especially if IAT's are really high. 93 users typically don't have to worry about it.
