What fuel are you going to be running? If it's going to be an e85 combo there's no reason to shy away from the 12:1 compression IMO

Right now i'm on the 3.875 pulley and will be going to the 3.6 six rib when I install the fuel system, but I don't know how many pounds of boost it will be. I'm not trying to break the bank i'm still more than happy with it as is when it shows anything in nines im good.
Where in the same bo

I think I'm going to go with the 12.1. From my understanding E85 loves high compression. I'll lower the boost when I'm on 93 to 10lbs.

Go the the cheap route. Buy gen 3 short block. Have pistons, rods and oil pump installed.

Save thousands.
Thousands I don't think so. I brought a new short block and sold it and got the aluminator it would of been cheaper if machine shops were not so backed up but thousands no.

Get a gen3 shortblock and run it as is. If you want you can open the ring gap but you don’t really need pistons or rods.
your ring land did not fail, your ringsdid not have enough gap so they butted and broke the ring land. Gen2 and gen3 piston are just as strong. If you don’t have the gap/tune right on a gen3 it will do the same thing

I know the gen 3 aluminator motor has the same plasma-spray cylinder liner as the current GT500 Predator engine but does a regular gen 3 motor have the same plasma -spay cylinder liner?

I just had Billet Pro Shop build my Longblock.

Sleeved Gen 3 block
Gen 2 heads, stock cams
12:1

on e85 and 7lb gates i made 707rwhp. On 28psi it made 1419rwhp. Moral of the story, these coyotes on corn sure love the higher compression! ;)

If you can do the work yourself you will save thousands. If you have one built not so much

Wouldn't that kill your quench?
I worried about that as well but the gen3 has very little quench area so I don’t think it relies much on it for chamber turbulence.
