Man, I'm going crazy over here!! I plan on doing mods as soon as I get the car, but the things I DO want from the factory are part of either the premium or performance packs. I ONLY want the rear diffuser and 8" display from the premium package, and I ONLY want the gauge pack and 3.73s from the performance package. Between the base model and fully loaded price (which it's looking like I have to get in order to get the features I want) it's not worth the cash. I REALLY hope Ford will let us pick and choose individual features.

/rant.
It's so hard to have very granular options when it comes to planning and building the cars, so I think those days are gone. :(

Package groups are here to stay due to the volume of cars produced. Even on my '14 Corvette which has a much lower production rate than the Mustang will.

We also consider it normal to wait 3 to 8 months for a new car to be delivered after signing the order.
About the same time that we will wait over here on this Mustang after ordering it. :(
I feel for you. The 4 months I waited for my Z51 were painful. I tracked the order so often I thought I was going to wear out the internet and also the patience of the Chevy customer service reps. I won't mention the "discussions" I had with my wife about how I was being overly obsessive. :p

I don't know if I can do the order and wait thing again. I'm going to try to just find the right manual transmission GT Premium with Perf Pack on a lot.

Good luck not going crazy. If you need therapy on waiting, let me know. :)

1.65% financing at 72 mo?!?! I thought 2.74% from my credit union was good! I need to keep looking to find something under 2.

Lower monthly payment == more options!

Looking at a gt prem with zero other options. If I can get the 50th appearance pkg I'd be happier than a 3 legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Ok, I get the 72 month financing however how much down? I thought 20% was the norm. Especially considering insurance Actual Cash Value if the car is totaled (doesn't have to be your fault). ACV is a LOT less than what we will pay for a new purchase. That's why the 20% down is suggested.

I wonder if the 72 and perhaps some 60 month terms would even keep up with the depreciation. I have no idea how fast Mustangs depreciate.

I'm going to try my best for a 48 month for a base V6 but lately I have been entrigued by the Eco Boost Premium with the heated/cooled seats! That would really be nice. Hmm...maybe I'll have to introduce myself to 72 Mo financing after all! Ha ha! Hey, boats, RV's, etc. all offer that and more so I guess it's not so bad after all.

Ugh. I hate this waiting period. Choices, limited info, no real life test drives, touch, and feel, etc..

Ford's payment calculator puts in 10% of selling price for down payment. On the last new vehicle I bought, a $26,000 truck, I only put down $2000, ~7.7% and they were happy. On this new mustang I plan to put down ~13%.

I'm interested in getting a little more personal, if anyone's willing to post what the length and APR% (and maybe credit). With x-plan the price is set, so loan terms are the only negotiating factor and the way I see it the dealer has most of the cards and might want to make a little money on the loan with x-plan price being so low. I'm considering other financing vs ford vs dealer and wondering what the general loan waters are like currently.

The key is to get good financing approved before going to the dealer, THEN give the dealer a shot at beating it. In my experience they will find a way almost every time...

Also, in the spirit of full disclosure, I should mention that I did put $10K down and have very good credit, so those things combined certainly helped my case. YMMV.

Now I'm starting to weigh my options. I have plan for the vehicle but at the same time they could possibly wait. I'm either going to cash out for a base GT or get a premium GT with the pp and finance 10k of it. Idk man this is upsetting me lol

#firstworldproblems lol - go premium for the toggles, 8' screen, line lock etc...base console is awful.

My 2011 was 1.9 zero down. At 1.9 (I have heard of zero down at 48 mo) the cost to use the money is not that much. And if you could get 0% why put anything down. I would think if you had 35k laying around you could find a decent rate on your money for the 60 months.

The Performance Pack adds roughly $35/mo (assuming 72mo at %4)

If you can't afford that you probably don't need a new Mustang.
If you are putting it on 72 month payments, YOU can't afford it. Ouch.
