Anyone ever get a more "flatter" sounding ford chime? Yesterday I started my car and the ford chime just sounded different. The back up sensor beeps also sound flatter as well.

but this morning, the sounds were normal. Same with the back up sensors.

Does it have to do with low battery voltage or something?

There's a toggle in forscan that lets you switch the chimes either from all the vehicle speakers or just from the cluster. It very randomly seems to temporarily switch on its own, which is what you experienced. I've had it happen a few times too. Just a software glitch that happens from time to time. Some have noticed it can happen if you go into to reverse with the door open.

I have the perfect solution for you: DISABLE THOSE CHIMES. Ha ha. That's what I did. I disabled both the start-up and door chimes. Here's how to do it, in case you want to do that as well: IPC 720-01-02 xx0x x2xx. The '0' is for the door chimes, and the '2' for the annoying start-up ones.

yeah, typically the warning chimes come from ALL the speakers.. sometimes, and just sometimes, the warning chimes will come from the DASH speaker... its a lot more subtle, and imo better

i bet this is what the OP experienced..

the first time i had it happen to me i noticed it immediately as well, and kinda liked it.. since then i have changed in forscan, for all chimes to come from the dash speaker instead of all the speakers. primarily just because of the backup parking aid beep thingy.. so annoyingly loud as default. much more manageable after the change.

I changed that too, but actually changed it back. Ha ha. It bothered me not to know where the beeping is coming from, since I back up the old-fashioned way, meaning looking thru the back window. With the IPC speaker, you don't know where the warning is coming from. And that also goes for the rear cross traffic alert. All my chimes are off now, except the reverse ones, so not an issue for me to hear them from the speakers.

I’d like it to come from all speakers so it sounds cleaner. Do you know what I need to change in forscan to make sure it comes from all speakers. It got goofed yo after my 8” infotainment swap.

If you removed the OEM amplifier and replaced with aftermarket, you can't change this behavior. The car detects the presence of the OEM amp. If it can't communicate with it, then the chimes are routed to the instrument panel speaker.

If you are still using the OEM amp then do the following:

You'll want the eighth digit set to 4 as shown below. Leave all other values where X's are as is.
This will send the chimes to the OEM audio amp.

720-01-01 xxxx xxx4 xxxx (IPC module) - Sound Location for Vehicle Chimes:
Value 4 = Forwarded to ACM / Vehicle Speakers - Default
Value 0 = IPC Internal Speaker Only

I swapped out the 4” infotainment for an 8” so no changes were made to the speakers themselves. I’ll try this and see if that fixes my issue. Thanks!

Thank god this is a real thing. I thought I was going crazy randomly hearing 2 or 3 different chimes for no reason

I've found what causes it for sure is if the vehicle is in "reduced power" mode from sitting for a long time. If the infotainment doesn't boot up when you open the door and just shows a "system disabled to save battery" or something similar, you'll get the weird sounding chime. It plays through the instrument cluster speaker instead of the audio system.

Hi was reading on this thread because I have sound system in the car and those chimes are blaring through the speakers. Where is that toggle in forscan to switch to cluster? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Mine is already at 4 and still comes from speakers. What are the other 3 x’s before the 4 supposed to be? Thanks.
