Ford Australia Delay

Hi all,

I just received a phone call from my dealer who has stated that Ford has sent out a bulletin that they are looking into the estimated delivery times for the Mustang. They have given a one week time frame to come back with something more solid, however it is good to see that they have listened to their customers.

No additional news at this stage but I am eager to see what they propose in order to fix this issue!

At least they are suggesting a conversation all posturing though. I am calling it now "due to high deman ect we will do our best to bring current delivery timelines in but do not expect material changes"

I can confirm this as I called my dealer in Epping and he said the estimated delivery dates should be released for each owner next week some time. Let's hope they stay true to their word.

Just read this on Australian Ford Forums:

"Last word, ford aus is going to be getting a faster turn around than they were originally expecting, new eta'a should be out by month end. Call early next month for more acuarate timings."

Hopefully, there's some substance to what is going on behind the scenes and it's not just spin.

I tend to believe there have been some pretty terse conversations between Ford Aus and Ford USA.

The factory produces around 500 - 600 cars per day (13,000 pm) using 2 shifts.

How many RHD ones it will produce once production starts will depend on how they plan to make them as well as the supply of any parts.

Also note that the UK has only orders for about 1200 and Australia has about 2500 - so they shouldn't take too long to make.

I ordered in early April and my dealer said Aug-Sept 2016. If that's the case I'm considering cancelling. I really want car in March/April.

Current cycle, MY2016 car, deliveries are just rolling on from Dec to Aug/Sept. 31 March was just a BS date Ford nominated.
I believe next order cycle will involve MY2017 cars, so I can't see deliveries between Sept and Dec.

MY16 changes have just been announced, so I doubt anyone will know until this time next year.
