Drivers side definitely doesn't fold in as much as the passenger, don't understand why

This, 1) Looks slightly pointless (But can't fold in fully because of cables etc) and 2) Looks like the right side (assuming drivers side) is way way way not in the right place.

Anyone have any ideas on a fix for this?

I remembered to check mine this morning & it would appear I have the same issue (although luckily they both fold enough to allow me to get in and out of the garage!).

Yep, checked mine this morning. Drivers side does not fold as far as passengers.
I would not worry if it was the other way round but its the drivers mirror that needs to fold the most as that's the one most likely to get clouted when parked up on the road.

I went back and checked mine and it's as Steve describes above. Hard to tell from inside the car but when I walked around the drivers side definitely sticks out more. But it looks like it's as far in as it could go...?

Makes me wonder if its something else Ford didn't bother fixing for RHD. aybe in the States, the passenger mirror does not fold in as far as drivers mirror, which is kind of acceptable as you should park your car at the roadside with the drivers side nearest the road.
I just wonder if they didn't bother changing this for RHD
I would appreciate it if the guys saying theirs fold the same would double check and confirm this is the case

I think you're right on the LHD/RHD thing.

It was only Entick that said his fold the same amount wasn't it and he's just double-checked and his are the same as ours?

Well maybe we should talk to Ford about it and get them to explain and/or fix it. I am sure they will be only too happy to charge us something like ÂŁ600 for a mirror replacement

Just checked mine - same issue. Can't understand the design logic personally but I would bet it's just another thing they didn't bother to change for the RHD market. Personally it doesn't make any difference to me...

I don't think the US cars are power folding. The export cars have our type of mirrors but not heard a peep from anyone on the general euro forum regarding this issue.

I contacted the garage. They 'looked into it' but said there hasn't been any mention of this issue (assume that means it hasn't been highlighted as a issue, or anyone else has mentioned it?). No point in taking the car in for them to yank it around a bit before just scratching their heads.

Looks like a design or manufacturing error. If its the second, once they fix at the factory, we might be able to get replacements (working) parts fitted under Ford warranty. Nice earner for the garage as well. In the meantime its not a huge problem, but just looks a bit crap and the drivers fold in is useless.

Just as long as Ford don't try and make some excuse about it being deliberately designed that way for some made up reason or other.

From info on this forum, another fault seems to be the cooled seats. I think they've fixed it now but on most early cars, the cooled seat doesn't work properly. Only the bottom seat section cools and not the back part. I checked this on my car and I do indeed have this fault. Maybe another fix under warranty, especially as I paid extra for this feature.

Edit: Thinking about it, I don't think Ford will give a toss about the fact that one of our our mirrors folds in two inches less than the other. It's not going to cost them a single sale after all. We are probably stuck with this.
