Fog Lights

Maybe I'm misinformed about how fog lights are supposed to assist you in driving. On my '07 Mustang, the fog lights would illuminate more of the road in front of the car. I could tell the difference instantly by looking at the road in front of the car. It lit up a little more on the sides but also in front, and the immediate road was more well lit.

In this car however, despite the fog lights being down closer to the road and having LED bulbs, the only difference I see is on the corners. There appears to be no visible difference on the road in front of the car. I drove thru a little ground fog layer and barely noticed a difference. The bulbs are definitely working.

Does this mean there is a problem with mine? What are proper fog lights supposed to do?

I've noticed the same thing with my fog lights. You'd think they would throw out a little more light low and to the front. Maybe it's just a matter of adjusting, if that's possible.

Yep, I had to adjust mine to get better coverage. Led on mine.

No directions that I know of.
You need to remove the plastic panel under the fog light, then I had to use a flashlight to identify the adjuster. PITA, I used a 1/4 " drive socket with a Phillips screwdriver bit. Also I didn't completely remove the panel.
I just sold a Mazda3 2014 to get this car and I had to do the same thing to the Mazda, so I hope Im not confused on the Phillips screw adjuster.
The Mazda was upgraded to HID fogs that blew the Fords LEDs out of the water. I wish I could ditch the LEDs and go back to the HIDs

I've noticed the same with mine. A bit of light to the sides, but not much to the front. I've even turned off the HID's and just had the fogs on, and it didn't illuminate much. Maybe the lens on the LED just diffuses the light to much.

I looked at my lights tonight and noticed something. The headlights have a fairly distinct line where the light falls off at the bottom, closest to the car. With the fog lights on, the entire area from the bumper up to the headlight fall-off plus more off to the side was lit up fairly bright, with only a small amount of "extra" light higher up mixed in with the headlight. The problem is, when I'm behind the wheel I can't see the "dark" zone from the bumper to the headlight fall-off so it looks like there's not much extra light. I think the old S197 Mustang put more of the light on top of the headlight where I could see it.

They should come properly aimed from the factory, ya think? If it needs to be aimed, I'd let the dealer do it (since they should have done it right originally) but the thing is, I don't know if this pattern is normal or they are not properly aimed. I was hoping to see what others' fog lights are like on here and it seems there are others, so maybe this is how they intended it? I don't know.

It let's everyone know you don't have your brights on.... It does give a little wider swath but not much.

Morrimoto (TRS) will have a set of fogs for our cars soon. These little bastards put out some light.

Also, does anyone know if the projectors in our heads is the same as the f150? If so, Evox-r's will bolt right in! The evo's kill our factory projectors.
