Flow Master Cat-back vs Stock

I'm pretty sure this is the exhaust that the previous owner installed. Is the diameter at least bigger than the stock exhaust or is this all sound and no performance gains? The drone is annoying at about 2.5k.

I have the same thing but with an x-pipe. My muffler guy said the OEM diameter is the same. Droned around 2250. I did notice, interestingly, that the drone lessened after I installed the Power Pack 2. Go figger. As for power...I have seen dyno videos claiming 8-12 HP gains. Who knows. But I do like the deeper note.

I suspect that this exhaust is not ideal for boost then? I'm starting to think the previous owner had no idea what he was doing.

I don’t know. I don’t have experience with boost. I’ve never had anything but N/A engines. I’m sure there is some sort of correlation between input volume and exhaust volume.

From what I've seen, 2.75" is the minimum for boost. But apparently the Roush level 1 can bolt right on without any other supporting mods. If you have premium wheels, 275mm in the rear should suffice since Roush level 2 is 285mm from the factory and it pushes 300 more hp.

Drone master. Just opt for a full 3" solution that is designed not to drone such as Corsa or AWE.
