Just a quick data point about the RE-71Rs. Took them out tonight to MSR for a track night and they worked great. Yes they begin to fall off after about 12 min of hot laps but it wasn't terrible and was only costing me about a second. Still a second faster than PZeros. They were still predictable and overall felt good, just a decline in grip.

The tire itself held up well and wear looked pretty good. I'd recommend them.
Those tires in 245/40/17 x4\square setup on a light car were incredible..!
What size(s) did you use? Any more information or details, especially impressions vs. factory tires and if you know how many lateral g's ... do please share and thanks for the data point.

They started talking, finally :)
Nice tires, actually!
Just need to anticipate a bit of slip last 1/3 of session. Which makes it even more interesting.

How were the BFG Comp 2's, Optimum Performance?
We like them, they hold up well, all 4 tires experience the same pressure rise which is due to the balance of the chassis and the driver doing a decent job of setting the chassis. Picture of the front left included. Clockwise configuration LF held up well.

Oversteer? The car pushes like crazy in stock form. You can get the tail around if you get on the gas a little early, but I wouldn't think that's something your instructor would have you trying out your first time out...
My bad, I meant understeer. I was watching this as I was typing that [ame] lol

Only at one point car oversteered and I got to correct it properly. I experienced those oversteer AND understeer at the same corner at different times. I approached at different angles. A lot of people spun out in that corner.

Well, compared to the P zeros there is just a TON more grip. The only difference between the last time I was out at MSR and this time was 19x10 wheels and 285 square RE71Rs. I was 2.2 seconds faster and this on a small 1.7mile track. That's a lot! The peak G I saw was 1.22. I've actually hit higher G's with the P zeros though. I don't really put a lot of weight into the g-sensor. Lap times tell the story.

The P zeros are actually not a bad track tire in that the handling characteristics are good, communicate well and feel precise. But they just don't have the grip.

Here are the Pzeros (1:27.5):

Here are the RE71RS (fastest 1:25.3):

Thanks tyshenry. Thats probably all I needed to hear because those tires really do have grip. They still have me in their grip from the last car haha.

What wheels are you using if I may ask?

Have you modified the suspension, if so, do tell!? thanks in advance-

Running 19x10 +35 Forgestar CF5V all around. Suspension is bone stock. Car is all stock except tires/wheels and catback.

Those wheels say rear only. Can I just disregard that?
Wheel sources like AM and even Tire Rack are very conservative in their wheel width recommendations. Heh . . . for my year anyway, many of TR's 18" wheels are narrower than my stockers.

Can't say as I blame them, because as mass-market suppliers they can't individually address everybody's situation, and most wheel buyers are only after the appearance. Clearances vary a bit from car to car, different struts, different tires, etc.

Ordered the Forgestar CFV5 matte black 19x10 35 offset and RE-71R 285/35/19 for square setup.
Thanks to everyone for the info.
Excited!

BTW, the Pilot Sports are talking fine now, seems they needed a couple heat cycles before they decided to speak up.
