First long trip with the ECO

So I took my first long trip with my ecoboost. Didnt have any hiccups and the car did well.

First off I took my wife, son, and mother in law to a water park for the weekend, my parents went too, but just drove separately. My mother in law ended up riding in the back with my son and even she said the back seats were surprisingly comfortable. We did 400 miles round trip on the car and the whole time car was comfortable, pulled strong and made me proud. Only thing I thought was odd, I was only able to manage 28 mpg throughout the whole trip highway, and I was cruised controlled damn near the entire time. Currently I have an airaid I take and a magnaflow comp exhaust with no tune yet, but that might change tomorrow ;) .

I have decided that I full blown love this s550 and even the Eco, I just want it to be a little faster and a little more torquey.

Glad to hear you had a good experience. I took a trip a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with how it performed. It was a 2,000 mile round trip with no issues. Biggest surprise was the lack of complaints from passengers in the back.

According to the trip calculator and I averaged 35 mpgs. Mostly had cruise set at 75.

Hey Will, how close are you to "livernois"? I went there a couple days ago talked with Jaimie, he gave me a tour of there place, Not saying that a tour of a place is a deciding factor, but it gives you an idea of the people & there product. I havent gotten a tune yet (other reasons), but I may. mine is nearly mod free. talk with them though, you wont be disappointed

Had two long road-trips in the 'stang back from the port in Bremerhaven to Frankfurt (575 kms, 356 miles) And Frankfurt to Berlin and Back (around 1200 kms total, 745 Miles)
I was around 7 l/100km (33mpg) on the way back from the port at 120-130 kph (75-80mph) Drove like an ass to Berlin Rarely dropping below 140 kph (90 mph) and hitting around 251 kph (155 mph) on 2 occasions (see my speed thread). The eco has been flawless and still averaging 10.8L/100kms (22mpg) Which is impressive for the German Autobahn. I drove like a nun to work on day just to see what it would do in the US (120kph-75 mph) and was seeing 6.7L/100km (35mpg) This car is an amazing Daily driver!

I only drive it a few days a week and on long road trips and I was very impressed to get 30+ mpg on the highway. I never got to 30 in my v6 on the highway.

They are very close to me, I went down to the shop and just talked with a guy at the counter for a little bit, and that was it. I'm hoping to go again maybe tomorrow and meet up with Jamie, I want to have this car tuned for sure....

Now though, I'm a little concerned with the mileage i saw 30 mpg on the way there, the. Drove a little bit through the city we were in and then drove back all highway was set on cruise at about 76 mph... At that point I was seeing 27.8 consistently... To those getting 35 mpg, was could be affecting my mileage?

Yes. Extra weight means tires deformed more as they rotate...eats up a lot of energy. Unless you inflated them to compensate, of course...

I'm currently 7000 miles into a statewide road trip with my Ecoboost. The car has been nothing short of amazing. 30+ MPG, easily passing everyone else and doing surprisingly well on some serious dirt roads.

Definitely get a tune. Definitely can feel it on this trip.

That's really what Im hoping for! I love this Eco, a lot actually, and I would be stretching myself to be able to afford a GT really, and then I would have ca payments for 72 months so after tune if the Eco blows my mind I'll stick with that. I don't need to be the fastest car in the road I just wanna blast around
