Okay, so not sure if I have one of the settings causing this. Twice I've found my trunk popped up. I don't think I'm hitting the fob, heck never opened the trunk with it (at least on purpose). Is there something that auto pops the trunk when I do something else?

Wait till its raining out and you go out and see your windows rolled down. It happend to me once, key fob in pocket fail.
On another note, I did accidently place my lunchbox in the trunk after work once and forgot I threw my keys in it. Right when I shut the trunk I realized my keys were inside and......bam the trunk popped open almost immediately. Could it be that you have your spare or key inside.
I have also noticed at times that the trunk sometimes needs to be shut a lil firmer than the doors due to the air pressure in the car, kinda like how the windows crack down a bit until the door is shut all the way to reduce cabin pressure from allowing door to close all the way. I have had to re shut the trunk a few times because it didn't close all the way even though it sounded like it did. Now after shutting the trunk, I give it a lil pull on the edge to make shut it's locked shut.
Just some ideas and experiences

this is a good one. doesn't sound easy to diagnose. Your key fob go into a pocket with anything else?

I found that i was always bumping the FOB somehow when in my pocket. usually the alarm but sometimes the trunk. I bought one of those leather pouches that you put the FOB in and zip up and no more issues.

The other thing I've done is reach for the sunglass drawer and push the trunk release by mistake.

Third thing was my wife had the other FOB on her monster seven thousand pound key ring and I highly suspect she was bumping it without even realizing it as she would rummage around in her purse or whatever.

Got her a leather pouch too. No more issues.

Lol, this is pretty funny. I've found my fuel door cover opened like 4x in the last few weeks... and once was when the car was in the garage with it closed. Strangest thing ever. Never had the trunk to open up though.

Alton, sounds like that beautiful car of yours is trying to tell you something. Like "feed me!".

The fuel door is so easy to open, ever so slightly gracing the sucker causes it open. I find mine open every now and then. get highly suspicious. like is my ex around? trying to sabotage my engine?

Hahaha no joke! In all seriousness though - does the fuel door not lock when the car is locked? Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but I haven't taken delivery of my Mustang yet.

No it doesn't. Doesn't lock at all actually lol. Just push in on it for it's latch to release.

Do you have kids? Maybe they are playing with your keys and are opening the trunk lol.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I've only had the car a week and it's spent most of that time sitting in the garage. I haven't had the fob in my pocket enough times to really know if its hitting something. The scenario has been me in the garage just admiring the car and I happen to walk behind it and I looked down and it's open. I know one of the times the fob wasn't even on me, but thought maybe I hit something on the way out of the car the day before. I do have my fob in the same pocket as my wallet, so maybe it's getting pressed by that. Heck I've never even pressed any of the buttons on the fob yet, only used it for its proximity. Speaking of fuel door, I'm about due for my first fill up and was thinking last night I don't even know where the filler is or how to open it, lol.

I was half hoping I had some feature set wrong that was popping the trunk when I got close to it the same way the doors do their thing. Thanks again.

This ↑↑↑ .

And all it may take is to bend at the waist just right (wrong?). Even untying a shoe or picking something up off the floor can be enough.
