Emailed a local car wrapping company to see how much it would cost for a full body wrap with matte color of some sort. My main reasoning is that I for some reason am being super anal about taking car of this car and want to preserve the paint as best I can, I have a black PP and black gets dirty after you wash it setting in the garage, and a wrap isn't permanent. I figured it would be around $1k but man I was way under lol. It ended up being $2,500. Maybe one day I will get her wrapped, not anytime soon though.

A lot of people have the same thought as you did about how much it costs to wrap a car lol. I thought the same thing too until I started asking around. The one thing to look out for though is the shops that tell you the price depends on the color because that is not 100% true. It's more about the finish more so than the color. My car is Matte Blue Metallic from 3M and the installers told me that the price is the same for all the colors in that finish (Matte). WHere you see big price jumps is in the chrome finish materials; they are the most expensive and can cost 3k+ in just material depending on size of vehicle.

Sometimes I just want to kick my door and put a dent in it. I am tired of babying my car. It's taken full dd duties over. I get in it dirty and muddy from work and am loving it. It's a great car but it's still a car. It's meant to be driven, get door dings, scratches, etc.. I'll do my best to avoid all of those things but I refuse to drive the thing likes it's made of solid gold anymore. What's the fun in that?

Seems a bit drastic but I get what you mean haha.

I have tons of friends that buy new cars and then let them sit in the garage while they drive a beater to and from work. I don't understand it haha. I love driving my car and putting miles on it, that's why I bought it after all. I do however maintain my vehicles very well and don't abuse them. I wrapped mine mainly because I wanted the color and it just so happens to protect the paint from chips, scratches, and UV. Also got a hell of a deal that only a mad man would pass up :headbonk:

OCD...until...

When I first get a new car I am always nervous that someone is going to do something to it. I park in the back of the lot away from all other cars and traffic. But then eventually I find some idiot has bumped it, scratched it, etc., etc. I cry a few tears and then give out a sigh of relief. My baby isn't perfect any more and I can relax.

$2,500 is actually a pretty solid price if they are doing the door jambs as well.

A professional wrap typically costs over $3,500. The type of vinyl (color, finish etc) also plays a big factor

If you are looking to preserve the paint, don't mind Matt paint and want to pay under 1k, try looking to get it professionally plasti-dipped.

I was thinking the same thing. But no way for $2500! That's absurd.

$2,500 is reasonable for the amount of work it takes to wrap a whole car. I saw a video of a shop doing a newer Challenger at it took 3-4 guys a good few hours-full day to get it wrapped. It's a lot of labor and the vinyl isn't all that cheap; there is a lot of waste getting around curves etc on some cars.

You think that's bad, how about the shops asking $1,000-1,500 to clear bra the front bumper and hood? 2 hours and maybe $50 in material. Now THAT'S a ripoff (because it's the fad now to do so they can beef up the price and people will pay it)

I got quoted for $1550 covering bumper, full hood, fenders, mirrors and underneath door handles/door edges. That was for Suntek not 3M. Anyone know the performance of Suntek vs. 3M?
