Long story short, bought my GT with Roush AB+ FRPP xpipe. Save for a bit of rasp and drone between 2-4k rpm, I loved it. Surprisingly, my wife was a huge fan. Cops... not so much.

So in the interest of toning it down so that I could step on the gas without attracting every cop within a mile, I kept the Roush and installed a Magnaflow 486 resonated x-pipe. Well. It served its purpose. Virtually no rasp or drone. But now it's way too quiet. My wife does NOT like it.

So I feel like goldilocks. I would be happy with something in the middle of those two options. The drone reduction was especially welcome with the Magnaflow, but it honestly drained the exhaust note of all character. It was way too muffled.

What are my options? I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

EDIT: I might try removing the Roush AB's and installing straight pipes from the resonator. That would probably be the cheapest option.

Did you do the 11386 or 12468?

486. Should have gotten the smaller one. But in any event, I think it would be too quiet still.
Possibly but it's a lot bigger muffler (1" wider and 4" longer). I have the 11386 and with the Sport AB (same as Xtreme mufflers) it's solidly loud, aggressive and snarly, but not over-the-top like the Xtreme catback. The resonated X pipes do take some time to break in (100-200 miles minimum), so keep that in mind. Mine got noticeably louder at about 100 after install.

Would bullet style resonators do the same, but with a little less reduction in volume? Changing out the AB is going to significantly alter the tone.

Yeah. I've got about 500 on mine. Did get louder, but not by much.

I'd try changing midpipes before axlebacks, especially if you like the tone of the Roush. Try the 11386 or you could do an X or H resonator delete with a couple smaller bullet resonators behind the crossover.

Your cops give crap about loud exhausts?
Mine don't even care when people are going over speed limit around them let alone loud exhausts. I have Solo Performance Street Race cops like meh.

How long have you had it? My Vibrant resonators I tossed into my setup were a bit TOO quiet when I first installed them but after about a week or so they got louder and now its perfect!!!

Yep. And it's not just a fine. I would have to remove the offending part.

Answered a bit above. I've had it on for more than 500 miles.
