The front carbon fiber wheels have a thermal barrier coating on the back of the spokes and on the inner rim barrel. The coating works best when clean. Maintain these areas with Motorcraft Tire and Wheel Cleaner and warm soapy water.

That's what I remember from my original car, Jaime..thanks. When are yn's coming back to cold country? :-)
We landed back in freezing temperatures yesterday evening, about 6pm

Jaime: Just checked the 500 Supplement and you are quite correct... 150 +/- 15 lb-ft.

Do you (or anyone else,) think I need to do anything different with these CF wheels? I know to be gentle on the finish but otherwise, do you think they can be treated like metal wheels when it comes to things like torquing the lug nuts?

Got the QJ assembled and tested standalone..tomorrow, up she goes. :-) Then it's off to Jaime's build thread so I can get the skinny on those RokBlokz flaps and the "Ohlson Mod." <smile>
As E and Snoop mentioned, torque them as any other wheel, and I also read it’s best to keep the barrels clean on the front wheels. The coating is there to protect the CF from the heat the brakes can produce under tracking conditions. With your use, you will not have to worry at all, but keep them clean just the same.

Tob, Earl, and Jaime: Thanks again for the info on the CF wheels and especially the coating on the front. I had an inkling of an idea that it was heat-related but appreciate the confirmation. It's kinda unsightly, too.

Anyway...back to your previous question, Tob..

I watched the OP gauge for awhile today and on average, I'd say mine holds at 75 under normal driving conditions. Bumping the throttle even a tad quickly takes it to 125.

Are you seeing about the same?
