Looking into the MyFord extended warranty.

Dealer advises the Mustang is category 3 and so if you choose to extend the time (not distance) an extra 1 year is $1735, 2 years $1820 and 3 years is $2260. You could also choose to extend the distance as well as the time for extra cost. I wouldn't need this.

Having had some experience calling on a factory extended warranty for our Toyota Kluger I'm seriously thinking about having the extra 3 years to give a total of 6 years.

***EDIT 12/3/16*** Decided against this. Reading the fine print shows it won't suit me where I'll no doubt do some modifications, participate in club level motorsport and have the servicing done by a (non-Ford dealer) specialist workshop. All things that will allow the insurance company behind this warranty (Allianz) to wriggle out.

Was offered $1995 for 5 years yesterday, which "graciously" includes $100 off x 5 services and some other BS.

After listening to a 10min speech (initially I thought it was free), because he said "for the first time ever we are offering this as a thank you to customers", he spams me with the $2K price tag.

I'm like... yeah... "No, I've got my own mechanic. Cheaper even with the $100 off. K bye".

As soon as I'm out the door, I think I'll only be back for any warranty issues/claims OR to have a chat with my sales person :D

Mime was an add on from the dealer as well. $3000 worth with Max payout of $1000 per claim.

Just gotta get serviced at their network which I was going to do anyway.

The MyFord warranty is worth it and that's an honest opinion coming from someone who has experienced it from the dealer's side putting in claims for customers vehicles. I'll be looking at it for mine, you can buy it any time up until just before your factory warranty runs out.

The problem is that there are so many so called extended warranties on the market these days and a good portion aren't worth the paper they are printed on. I wouldn't be touching anything but the Ford one personally.
