Expected mileage at delivery

From reading the forums it's my understanding Ford will be subjecting GT350's to additional testing compared with a typical Mustang. With deliveries on the horizon what mileage should we be expecting upon delivery? 25 miles?

Planning to use this info to understand if my car was taken for a joy ride or two during the shipping receiving process. Hell, if I was one of the handlers I'd be tempted to take some liberties.

LOL, My rep told me he plans on putting a mile on it. He will have to take it to another location to detail it, So I imagine he's going to take the scenic route

I asked if I can get the call to remove the factory masking myself and have a detailer of mine show up to prep the car. Said yes that would be okay.

So.... I guess I put the first few mies on it.

Your rep is wrong. He shouldn't do that. Demand you want to detail it.

As for OP, don't worry so much about shipping and transfer stations. They see so many different and special cars, it's no big deal plus the cover doesn't lend itself to riding around much. Worry more about a boneheaded dealer.

It is my understanding that the GT350 cars will be subjected to additional inspections at Flat Rock prior to turning over to transport but have not heard of any additional testing?

If my car comes in with more than 8 or 9 miles I will not be happy but unfortunately that may be the case?

The last few Mustangs that I have received came in with ~6 miles on each of them.

I did receive a new 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca a few years ago and specifically said to the delivering dealership that I did not want a full tank of gas with my delivery which in some cases means a gas jockey will take a little longer route to any particular gas station. If I was in their position I would probably do the same thing.

That car came in with 12 miles on it and I was not happy especially after stating that I did not want them to fill the car up.

If you want to receive your car with the least amount of miles on it be specific with the General Sales Manager of your dealership about no one driving the car upon arrival and to not fill the car up with gas at a local gas station and I suggest they will comply?

The selling dealer may say that the service people have to drive the car as part of the PDI but with the additional inspections at the factory there should be no reason to test drive your new GT350.

You're too tight on tolerances. Mine came with 11 and I watched it get unloaded off the truck. I've seen them arrive with 20 even. Just depends on how many yards it goes through, how many times its moved at the factory, how large the transfer yards, which lot and ramp it was assigned at the factory, and even if it was selected for a drive at factory.

It'll arrive with what it arrives with and there's pretty much squat you can say or do about it. Only thing you can do is be there when it arrives. Even if you specify not to do anything, of that dude gets his hands on the keys before he is stopped, well, still not much you can do. Only option is to not buy it. Next in line will be happy.

This is what I was thinking too. Maybe some people on here are big shots within Ford and can scold their dealer, but I know that I'll feel fortunate if I even get to buy a GT350 at a somewhat reasonable price. Every dealer I've talked to around here has multiple people in line.

Kind of nice the feature that limits the RPM when the car is cold is there. Other than that, I'm not too worried that someone at the dealership will beat the car worse than I will.

The Mustang GT's (actually I think all fords) come with a manufacturer mode which limits the power the cars have at the factory to prevent people from driving them too crazy. The dealers are the ones that remove the manufacturer mode from the cars.

Maybe you can ask them to leave it in that mode until you arrive?

This is what I was thinking too. Maybe some people on here are big shots within Ford and can scold their dealer, but I know that I'll feel fortunate if I even get to buy a GT350 at a somewhat reasonable price. Every dealer I've talked to around here has multiple people in line.

Have you secured a GT350 as yet and if not send me a PM and I will try to help you out?

You can tell your dealer x, y and z until you're red in the face but you cannot be there every minute to ensure it's followed. Let your blood pressure be and enjoy the car when you take possession; it's just a car.

Not stuck up. I don't want the car wash guy putting miles on a car I've been waiting for since late last year and worked tirelessly to be able to afford. Guess it's in my nature to not trust people with my stuff. :cheers:
