Every time I hear a Really loud mustang on the road it seems to be a person swiching lanes and flying by me eventually. Certain people because they have a loud car need to prove to everybody else how fast they are. It’s the squirrel image that they project. So that’s the other side to really loud exhaust. It’s like oh here we go again another loud mustang. It doesn’t seem to happen that often with other sportscar as much as the mustangs.
Hey I’ve taken out the baffles on my 13 boss and have a blast on the on ramps. But there’s a place for such fun. Plus the track days.

The elderly typically just love to complain about things. I'm fortunate to have many old family members still alive, and whenever I visit I find that the majority of their conversations are negative in general. I smile and listen, because I know that there is really nothing else that they have control over anymore.

My 84 year old grandmother constantly complains about "kids" driving loud cars in the neighborhood. My 86 year old grandfather secretly wishes that he could have a big truck with a large V8 again.

I am blessed with great neighbors it seems... I have 2 elderly neighbors, and I've talked with both about the noise...

One told me that they joke around saying "well he's on his way to work".

The other actually likes the noise, they get up around the time that I go to work so it's kind of like a alarm for them, but they like the car's sound better lol.

Your son did good! I personally don't like MY car to be too loud. A bit louder than stock. But, unless you are waking the neighbors at 5am. People need to be somewhat tolerant.
The noise I personally dislike are the Harleys with loud exhaust. It sounds like the smog V-8s of the 70 with those terrible large cams and no horsepower. Just flat super loud low horsepower sound. Either way, we need to allow others to have some freedom to enjoy a free society.

Think of it this way...

Your car is practicing its 1st Amendment right, freedom of speech.

That sword cuts both ways. We need to respect other peoples' right to not have their private space invaded with our racket. Or we risk people thinking all Mustang owners are asshats. Oh wait.....that ship already sailed.

Now if we could just get those Harley riders to give anyone respect we'd be fine. Though I'm sure Harley riders are so deaf they don't think their bikes are loud at all.

The old complain about the young and the young complain about the old . . . like you guys are doing. ;)

When you do complain about complainers just be sure you don't also complain about anything other people do that you don't like. ;)

My biggest complaint when I lived in an apartment was a neighbor's barking dogs late at night! Fortunately for him my car wasn't loud since my parking place was under his apartment. After months of polite requests which were met with the typical "my dogs don't bark" I simply started calling him at 6AM when I got up to let him know that his dog's were barking late the night before when he wasn't home. :)

FYI I'm a "stealth mode" guy. Quiet means less attention which is a good thing most of the time for many obvious reasons. ;) I learned this fact when I was young.

that's my neighbors, I drive real slow barely above idle when coming/going. There's a Hellcat & boosted S197 in my neighborhood that also adhere to these rules. Only loud car is a restored Beetle that is obnoxious.

Funny timing on this. My g/f was speaking with our neighbor yesterday who is in her 70s and she said something about my car being loud in the morning. I leave for work at 540am but have to let it idle to warm up for a few minutes. She will just have to suffer through it for a couple more weeks. If that is the only thing she had to complain about us a neighbors she should be happy considering the s#!+bags who lived here before us.

Not sure if you're moving soon or planning on killing her with the exhaust sound...

That's why I ordered >active< on my 18,, even though some folks on here think its kind of a waste.. I agree with DickR, stealth mode, till I am in the country!

Two things come to mind: One is there is noise and then there are sounds. And crotchety old folks where crotchety young people once.

I can't believe I'm saying this after all these years of crazy mufflers, but, after 50 years around jet engines and my own exhaust sounds and noises, a very loud exhaust can actually be painful. And as a blanket statement to you guys, protect your hearing. Once you screw up your hearing, you can't get it back. And it sux. I'll leave it to you to look up tinnitus for starters.
