I recently installed catted headers + a new valved exhaust on my 2020 GT which sounds just gorgeous - but sadly it's about 3-4 dB too loud which can get me into trouble with the police here. Due to recent law changes the police here is allowed to measure the exhaust in all drive modes that are "street legal" which leaves me with Quiet, Normal and Sport. Quiet mode is no issue at all, with the valves closed any dB check would be passed easily, but as soon as the valve opens in normal or sport mode it's game over. From around 90~ dB in quiet mode it jumps up to 101/102 in the other modes which is above the 98 dB I'm allowed to have, that's already enough to get my car impounded 😕 I'm now looking into a way to either close the exhaust valves when getting above the 3000rpm range while parked, which might be hard since they don't change the position at all when you rev it in neutral, or to change the static position of the valves to one that leads to less noise coming through overall. Does anyone know if it is possible to do such a change in the ECU/PCM or is it a dead end I'm looking into?

I read that if you unplug the actuators in a specific position that they'll stay in that position. You could set it to quiet mode and unplug the connectors so they stay closed in the other drive modes.

With HP Tuners you can configure the tables used to control the valve position to customize it any way you want. Each of the drive modes are linked to different tables.

I don't think unplugging would be the way to go since that seems to be a one time thing and the second someone switches the exhaust mode they would get into the old position?

The HP Tuners configuration sounds interesting, do you have to happen any screenshots or more information about that? I would try to contact a local tuner here with the information I can gather and see if we can work something out :)

I'm wondering if there is a different table for the active exhaust while you are parked since I just want to modify the valves while not driving, the best case would be to get them always closed / closed over 3000rpm while parked in every mode and completely stock while driving.

If you unplug them (after already in Quiet Mode), how can anyone possibly open the valves electronically? And what kind of police you got over there that "know" you have different exhaust modes anyway?

Its Germany, we got laws for everything here. I have to carry a paper with me (official document, can't tamper it) which says that the car has an exhaust valve which can be controlled manually. The police will stop me while driving around and there is no time to unplug the valves or anything, either they will stay closed or my car is gone, its actually that simple over here. Loud cars and especially exhaust valves got banned, the ones that are left are getting targeted now.

I got an idea. Why don't you hook a switch to the ground wire on each actuator, then put the switch under the dash or anywhere hidden from view but easy to get to? Cop pulls you over, put it in Quiet Mode, then hit the switch, which will prevent the valves from opening.

The idea is good, but it still leaves a trace at the end. The best option is the ECU/PCM change which can't be detected from them at all. They only know the valves have to open, but not when and under what conditions.
