Installed my MBRP street exhaust, and I'm rather annoyed because I got the fitment absolutely perfect, but the clamps from the midpipes to the h-pipe literally don't do anything, they're worthless. I tightened them to the 45ft/lbs+ that was suggested, and to where it felt like something was going to break, but I can still easily move the mid pipe up and down on the h pipe connection, lmao. So of course as soon as I let the muffler down, the whole pipe twists and sags until it's touching the valence. Plus it leaks badly when the car is on. Is there something I'm missing here? Are you expected to tighten the clamp until it starts crushing the pipe on there? I don't see any other way it would ever seal. Any advice before I just go to a shop to have it welded?

I do like how it sounds (and the fitment before it falls down) so at least there's that.

I had to tighten my passenger side muffler clamp on my MBRP catback to what I felt was unnecessarily tight. I was nervous, but it’s what I had to do to get the slip joint to finally compress/crimp onto the h-pipe. I think the tubing was way stronger than the included clamps, as I snapped one tightening a tip on as well(the spot welds broke). But after a few checks everything is still tight and no leaks.

Glad to know it's not just me. I just went to an exhaust shop to have them do it and put a few tack welds so it doesn't move anymore. I'm tired boss, of laying on my back lol

I don't go by the recommended torque. I crank them bolts and tighten them puppies down until the exhaust pieces are solid. If they are not good enough then I go and get heavy duty U-style clamps from an auto parts store and they do the trick.
