No RAGRETS, huh? Not even a single letter?

Up until October I had a 415 WHP WRX/STI, and let me tell you OP... MAKE THE SWITCH. I got tired of the buzzing exhaust (had EL headers and had an open wastegate). I got tired of the stiff ride, ridiculous plastic interior, high strung motor, and oh the freaking transmission. I don't know why they make STIs 6 speeds; 1st and 2nd gear are really the same, and while cruising in 6th gear at high way speeds the motor holds at just about 3000 RPMs.

Oh, and then there was the park bench in my rear view mirror. It was like a heads up display in the back of my car that would put cops and other JDM guys in the crosshairs. Not to mention it always made me think that someone was in my blind spot.

Not sure what work needs to be put into an EVO for going above 400 WHP, but I had to put forged pistions in my EJ257, because those things go through ringlands like my toddler goes through Huggies. It ain't pretty and it's freaking expensive. $5K to safely give a car just above the same kind of WHP that can be had with a stock Mustang. Oh, and lets not forget that off the show room floor, an EVO, an STI, and a Mustang GT cost the same.

OP, with an EVO I'm sure you have dealt with many of these things and more, because from what I understand STIs are considered a bit softer and more plush than EVOs. I can only guess at some of the creature comforts you sacrificed for that machine.

I thought I would never do it, but I jumped over to the American V8 darkside, and let me tell you, The Empire is fucking sweet.

+1

I came from a 460+ whp evo (mustang dyno) thing was a beast on E85. The darkside is way better. Never thought I'd rep a Ford! I used to always dog my father back when I was younger for having a Ranger. 15 years/250k miles later, that ranger is still fulfilling it's duties. Love my Stang!:ford:

I would go with the Mustang GT over a shitbox Evo, no question, no matter how much faster it is vs the S550.

My sti never had any issues with local pd, the sti gets nothing but love from the local import croud. I get WAY more thumbs up in the sti than I ever did in my mustangs.
What did you have done to the sti? It will take more than pistons to make over 400 awhp. I busted a ringland at a little over 300 awhp, went with a full build, rotated turbo fmic, id1300 dual fuel pumps pistions cams blahblahblah I cant wait to drive the pos.

The problem with STIs are they turn into a 50k econobox down the road eventually when people bust a ringland and say screw it I guess ill just build it.

Went to dealer yesterday, got back home.... in the evo lol . can't pay what they are asking right now. I still owe 20000 thousands on my evo , dealer wanted to pay 25000 thousand for my car ( everything good at that point) then after two hour of 700 , 600 dollars payments they came with "theirs best offer 579 84 months ". Test drove the car and absolutely loved, but cant affird6that payment ( 550 72 months is more likely my limit). Looks like i would need to wait until december they may drop the prices of the 2015 a litle bit

Wow, really surprised so many of you have made the move from an STI or EVO to a Mustang GT and are happy about it.

I like my 2015 GT and think it's an awesome upgrade from previous years, but I still think it feels kind of "clumsy" compared to an STI/EVO. If they made convertible versions of STI/EVO type cars I would probably go for that instead.

Good luck whatever you end up doing!

2013 STI
Dominator 3.0 XT-R
Perrin EL Headers (Swaintech Ceramic Coated)
Tial External Wastegate
Catless Invidia Downpipe
Invidia Q300 Catback
Injector Dynamics 1000cc Injectors
Deatchwerks DW65c Fuel Pump
Tomei Fuel Pressure Regulator
Composite TGV Deletes
Aftermarket BPV (purchased from IA Performance; can't remember brand)
Process West TMIC w/Y-pipe mod to fit stock location turbo
Perrin Turbo Inlet
Cobb SF Intake w/box
Engine built by Sean at Vigilant Motorsports (good guy).

....and a lot of other stuff that I'm sure that I'm missing.

Originally running E-tune from Stephen at IA Performance, then had a crappy dyno tune from ET Tuning in St. Louis, MO. Eventually got a 93 Oct and E85 dyno tune dialed in at Cobb Plano.

Was trying to avoid doing "the list" for that car. Eitherway, it was a lot of work (the only thing I didn't do myself was the tune and forged internals in the new engine) and a lot of money. Car was fun but I think my tastes changed. Not to mention everything I mentioned in my first post (cops, other JDM guys, the works.... man the car was stupid loud.)

Also, aside from heated seats and an extra set of doors there was nothing else on the interior. There wasn't anything that really said that this car is worth $34K+. I see people complaining on these forums about the optional Shaker system and laugh. Most of them have definitely never experienced the sound Subaru offers in their highest end performance car. It's a disgrace. The '07 WRX I built before that was the same way.

I may by an older GD WRX in the future since I live in the midwest and use it as a daily driver. Then again, my Mustang does just fine on my winter set up.

Oh I have DEFINITELY noticed the clumsiness you're talking about. The body roll is astounding and I feel like I'm rotating forever on right hand turns. Also, I had to learn a bit of restraint when moving from a complete stop, especially in bad weather. Tire spin is something I wasn't accustomed to, AT ALL, but I'm starting to understand the traction threshold of the rear a bit better (plus right now I'm on 245 winter wheels).

Even with the clumsy handling (as compared to an STI/EVO) I'd still make the trade. That stuff can always be mitigated/fixed with enough money and aftermarket shit. May never handle like an EVO, but it could be made to perform far better than it currently does.
