Euro version only 417 hp !! ??

Hi,

i read today a test of a german (euro) version of the 2015 GT and EB.
The EB has a few hp more than yours in the states but now comes a big disappointing thing which i had to read 3 times .....the 5.0 for europe has only 417 hp !!
Torque is 529Nm which is 390,17 ft-lb.
0-60 they mentioned 4,5sec.....but i dont trust them :)
They said the shifter is not good for fast shifting. I saw this in the video in england on racetrack when the guy was shifting.
ok, new gearboxes are always a bit reluctant.
They also mentioned that EB muuch more suitable for our roads not only because of mpg, no the agility is noticable much better and feels light because the engine is sitting more backwards.
The steering wheel is small and you can look over the hood like in any shit other sedan....there´s a lot of muscle gone.
They love the rear axle which seems comfy and much better on our bumpy fast driven roads but all in all they said it still drives a bit like a fat burger (GT). The EB with package is quite agile but less than these Focus RS or ST....lol no wonder....idiots:-)
I dont care...V8 all the way ! But i will wait for next camaro too....i smell a better all in all package this round for the chevy.


I´m a bit disappointed about these Euro hp numbers because Euro Camaro´s have the same hp as yours ! WTF Ford ???

i had to read 3 times the 5.0 for europe has only 417 hp
on ford.de is the following: Der leistungsstarke optionale 5,5-l-V8-Motor hat noch mehr Power unter der Haube: 307 kW (418 PS). :shocked:

So just do not believe anything and wait. :)

I have 3 guesses as to why…

1. Emission standards in Europe may have facilitated a different tune or possibly a different set of catalytic converters.

2. Fuel Octane. Do you have the equivalent of 93 octane fuel(petrol) in Europe?

3. They may have been lazy and just left the old 5.0 HP and TQ numbers from the previous model on that site.

thx, the wrote in german the reason is because of "high end tuning" i forgot the exact words they use. it could be perhaps due to our fast Autobahn driving and Ford get fearfull about it´s longterm reliability ? so they cut a bit for safety ?

da stand sowas wie "in der Endstufe optimiert". Ich vermute die meinen sowas wie vollgasfest, da der auf unsrer Autobahn schon gescheucht wird :-)
da haben die Ford jungs bestimmt mal ein wenig gedrosselt...Angsthasen echt !

Octane

I have seen a lot of blown engines here in Germany. Here's what I've found:
The US obtains its octane rating by this formula: AKI = (R+M)/2) which is sometimes called Pump Octane Number (PON).
AKI means Anti-Knock Index
R is short for Research Octane Number or also RON
M is short for Motor Octane Number or also MON

Here is a summarized comparison:

_US______Germany____________
86 AKI = 91 RON Regular
87 AKI = 92 RON Regular
88 AKI = 93 RON
89 AKI = 94 RON European Premium
90 AKI = 95 RON European Premium/Super at some sites
91 AKI = 96 RON European Super
92 AKI = 97 RON European Super
93 AKI = 98 RON European Super
94 AKI = 99 RON European Super
94.45 AKI = Shell V 100 Power (Nitrogen enriched)


An independent study I found some time ago said that the Shell V100 was RON 101.1 & MON 87.8 so you can do the math. (94.45 AKI)

Keep in mind also that 418 PS is about 412 hp. PS is not equal to hp; close, but not equal. Since 412 is the hp from a few years ago, I have to wonder if Free Agent's third point hit the mark. Who knows...

I'm sure I read that the Euro version GT put out quite a lot less CO2 than the US version. So I think it'll have something to do with the cat. Still about £500 to tax anyway.

No kidding, even if it is 417 instead of the US ~425 you are talking about 1.8% power difference. No big deal. Plus you have all the awesome roads in Germany to more than make up for it. I lived in Germany for 5yrs. I miss the roads in Bavaria and Austria!

There are some wrong numbers published by Ford (the same sh+#t as the 5.5 L V8...)
It seems there´s a lot of miscommunication between USA and Germany.

I asked a German Autohaus about this a few days ago. They´re Mustang experts and already drove the '15 model in the US. Here´s what they replied:

"...Der Mustang wird ganz sicher mit 426 PS kommen. Heute nochmals bei Ford nachgefragt, siehe Bild. Aufgrund der EU Bestimmungen und der CO2 Werte wird der Motor etwas angepasst, was 3 % Leistungseinbuße nach sich zieht. Theoretisch ist dies ganz einfach später wieder mit einem kleinen Chiptuning auszugleichen. "

And they attached this picture:

That´s the latest info. They were 100% absolutely sure it will have 426 PS (420 HP).
But maybe that´s just because they don´t calculate with Super+ 98 ROZ (93 in the US). And the deficit (if there really is one) is definitely only software based. Just go to a reputable tuner like Schropp and you can get the american 441 PS (435 HP) + more.

what does it mean adjustet frontend ? (angepasste Frontpartie ?)
the 2015 style has lost lot of muscle design, should they soft wash it again for europe ?
and what does it mean when they mentiones in your attached sheet that all euro Stangs will have a PP package !
The automatic too ? That would be great !! Than i dont need to import a 50th aniversary Stang ? :D
