Engineer Overthinking Mods

I am leaning towards the magnaflow street catback. I might swap the x pipe for an h pipe down the road. I cannot find a single sound clip of a magnaflow street coupled to an h pipe. If anyone has a clip let me know.

I've got the Magnaflow street with the X-Pipe and I love it. Sounds great, and will sound even better paired with some long tubes. I went with a 19x9.5 square setup running 275's for DD and occasional road track runs. I opted for the FRPP with Steeda Ultralite suspension setup, as [MENTION=10530]MustangCollector[/MENTION] was nice enough to try out many different suspension setups.

I plan on upgrading the sways and adding some of the BMR stiffening components and an MGW/Steeda/Barton short shifter. Clearly I haven't decided which company to give my money to yet.

I would like lowering springs but I cannot find enough information on stock PP spring rates to find out which aftermarket springs would work best. It is my understanding that your shocks/struts are designed to work with a certain spring rate. When you start mixing and matching performance falls off quickly. Not an expert just what I have researched. Does anyone know what the stock PP spring rate is front and rear?

Below is my approach this week:

1. Cat Back Exhaust either Corsa Sport or Magnaflow Street (can't decide)
2. MGW Shifter
3. Koni Yellow front and rear with the suggested Eibach Pro Springs.
4. Square setup 19x10 so far I like the 6G

My thoughts based on my mods over the last 14 months of owning my '15 GTPP

2. I just had the Steeda Tri-Ax race shifter installed. It is an amazing piece.

Here is my write-up. This will help.
Tri-Ax Shifter - This shifter is a beautiful piece of art. The throws are sooooooo short and so precise. The height of the shifter is perfect. You can just rest your hand on the center console and your palm just rests comfortably on the shifter ball. The throws are bolt action rifle precise. It goes into the gate with minimal effort. I have the soft springs installed. There is a nice weighty feel when shifting. The very first time you feel the shifter after it is installed, your jaw will drop at how different it feels over stock. After 2 days, I am now used to the feeling and it is a glorious thing. You get a bit more noise from the Tri-ax vs. stock shifter but it leads to a more mechanical, visceral experience with the shifter and the car. The downshifts are so much faster now vs. stock. It is almost like we have a DCT in the car, no lie. If you are on the fence about buying a shifter, just do it. You will be happy you spent the money. It really changes the entire feel of the car and driving experience. This is the BEST aftermarket shifter I have had installed in any of my Mustangs since 1991:first:

3. I would go with Steeda Ultra-lites and their Koni setup that will be sold by Steeda. They will be adjustable and are paired with their linear springs. Their rates are perfect for road racing and daily driving. If you don't want Steeda, BMR would be the only other suspension company to get any of my money. They do all the engineering in house, etc. just like Steeda.

How does wheel hop affect track/autocross/HDPE?

The best answer I can give you is that the same mods that are intended to quiet wheel hop for the straight-line guys will make for more accurate control of rear suspension geometry and wheel alignment in operation (which won't be the same as the static numbers that the alignment shop gives you on the print-out).

Anything rubber will deform/deflect under load, and when that happens your suspension follows a different path from what its pure geometry (this basically assumes that all pivot points feature spherical metallic joints) predicts . . . and the differences are almost never in the direction of improved cornering grip or increased lateral g's. Probably not under heavy braking loads either.

Being in 3rd gear or higher most of the time and shifting with at least a modicum of smoothness with the clutch and throttle takes the risk of wheel hop itself almost entirely out of a HPDE driving experience.
