Today I took my GT in to get an oil change and the fu#king techs were revving the sh#t out of my car and driving it like as##holes in the back.

When they are finally done and I finish paying I walk out as another tech is pulling up from finishing a different mustang from the back and says "Damn dog, that car sounds sooooo sick". So i said a few kind words back to him in return and went on my way. Needless to say I wasn't to happy about it.

Anyways, enough ranting. Do any tuners offer any valet mode type tunes without having to go full stand alone? Specifically TPS and RPM limiters? The "My Key" doesn't do anything and neither does the "Valet mode" on the radio obviously. Something I could change on the fly would be nice but, having to flash the ECU before I take it in to service wouldn't be a deal breaker at all.

I have done some searching and nothing really to my satisfaction has come up. I would appreciate replies from tuners/dealers only who are familiar with the various kinds of tunes/tuners out there. TIA

I thought the premiums hava a valet mode. I've seen it in my settings but have not ever messed with it

Yeah, the My Key just limits the MPH to 65 and turns all the track features off as well as sets speed reminders. Valet mode on the radio keeps them from digging around your contacts or any addresses you might have saved.

The ProEFI on my Supra has a valet mode where you can put RPM limiters and if you have DBW TPS limiters as well but, its a stand alone ECU. I was hoping something along those lines was available for the Mustang without having to go to a full stand alone.

I believe that any tuners that offer a custom tune they will create a tune for you with any request that you have and revise it to your liking. beefcake or lethal performance are a great choice to hook you up with a custom lund tune. Theres an extra charge of course. Next time you get your oil changed I would at least let them know you do not appreciate them Revving the crap out of your car. It is unnecessary to do that to change the oil and if you are unhappy you can go somewhere else that will respect your wishes. You dont need to be rude about it or smash someones face in over it, but please speak up and get the service you are paying for. If you don't at least do that don't expect sympathy from others about your situation only you have the power to change it. Personally when I absolutely have to take my car to someone else, I love hearing the sound my engine makes when it is revved up. That's why I got the car and as long as they aren't "bouncing" it off the limiter no harm no foul. If they get as much joy out of it as I do the car has done its job. Just like a Happy cook won't spit in your food a happy mechanic won't forget to change your oil.

I hear what your saying man, and the purpose of this post was not to elicit sympathy by any means. I did let the tech know I didn't appreciate it when he brought out the other Mustang, as that is what I meant when I said "a few kind" words. End of the day whether I let them know or not, or take it to another dealership or not, isn't really going to fix the problem in my eyes. Me personally, I like to hear my car when I'm driving it and revving it up, not someone else and I definitely don't want someone getting any where near the rev limiter when I do take it in to get serviced. Different strokes for different folks, no biggie there.

Anyways, I don't want to derail this anymore than it already has been. Thanks for the heads up about lund and lethal, I'll get in contact with them and see what they can do.

I'm sure most tuners can hook you up with something. On my vortech foxbody I could set the MSD ignition to have a rev limit which I usually kept at 3500 if I was going to get work done on it. I remember forgetting to set it one day when I was in a hurry and the guy at jiffy lube was doing my inspection. The kid who pulled it in got the biggest smile on his face when he started it and heard the cam lope. And when they popped the hood he saw that blower, along with any other mod you can do to a small block ford under the hood and let out an "oh my god" haha. He asked me if he could rev it up and I figured why not make the kids day. Now that I'm done telling stories, I get where you're coming from. We are men, and we done like people messing with our toys. But I also try and find the silver linings in things. Nothing hurt the car, and the guys loved the way it sounded. You made someone's day a little better.

Ps. The angry Me that got back from Afghanistan 5 years ago would have went up in there like :paddle: but I'm just trying to shed some light into the matter. Lund could hook you up with something I'm sure man. Have s good one.

Yep, that's my line of thinking. When I got my alignment, I think the tech was surprised at how loud the car was when he started it up. He gave it a quick rev when it got in the shop.

Personally, I'm with you, I don't mind. So long as they're not abusing the car, I'm cool. I guarantee I'm harder on the car than what they'll do to it.

Any tuner can do what you want as previously stated. I would recommend not using SCT for that purpose though due to the long tune load times. You could just about change your own oil in less time than it would take you to load a valet tune and reload your normal tune with SCT.

COBB does.
They do, but they only offer tunes for Eco Boosts currently :(. They were actually the first ones I thought of as I know on the import side they can do some neat stuff like that.

Honestly if he would have asked and I was right there, I probably would have let him I'm not a complete dick lol. I guess it just bothers me more than most when people assume that liberty.

I'm currently in the service myself been to Afghanistan a few times and just got back from Iraq a few months ago so I can definitely relate to you on the angry part lol. Thanks for the heads up about Lund, I appreciate it a lot man:thumbsup:

Thanks for the heads up on SCT. I made a post on livernois motorsports section and I'm going to call up Lund tomorrow as I see their name come up a lot so I'm assuming they are good to go. I'm in a constant state of always improving a 20+ year old Supra so as trivial as it might sound I really don't want to deal with an oil change on my DD. Plus I would like to keep documentation that the car was serviced at the required mileages in case I want to sell it in the future.

I guess my point was a tuner can do what you want, but
If you don't want them to bounce it of the limiter. Don't set it to lower that will make it easier. It could scare the shit out of an entitled idiot and make them think twice in the next car.
