21 ecoboost, auto.. no mods… 69k
I have been trying to figure out whats up with this car…. It runs OK…. No major problems but it just is like a smelly blanket when your freezing your ass off…. Functional but annoying.
Anyway…. I’ve been griping about the trans since i got it, HATE it….
But today I noticed something that i hadn’t before….
when you first start it up, and the engine warms up…. It runs great…. But once you are driving for a good while…. When you come to a stop sign, the idle is rougher and when the fan starts, it stumbles and make plastic rattling sound (thus i bump it into neutral at stop signs because it idles FINE at any time in neutral or park)
Also, when your tooling along and the engine speed drops below 1700 (which is one of the infuriating things about the trans in regular drive mode) it Also runs rough.
the KEY is trans temp…. If the trans temp is below 160-170… its fine, all the time…. Once the trans temp gets above 160-170.. it seems like the engine is being drug down by the trans, especially in Drive or at low RPM and when you out it in park or neutral, thus unloading the engine… it runs rough.
Any clues???
I HAVE NOT checked trans fluid cause my driveway is at an angle… i will do so asap on a flat surface when its hot now that i have noticed this.. (my gut is telling me its gonna be high because some jerk didn’t check it hot)
