Power to weight ratio. The EB carries an extra 50ish peak ponies and about the same more torque over your ST, but it's carrying an additional 300ish pounds. The difference in acceleration feel won't be as stark as the peak figures suggest.
So with my "butt dyno", a V6 or EB would feel sluggish in comparison to my ST then? That'll be an interesting test for sure. And overall driving characteristics will come into play as well.

Here's another question, is it worth anything to mod a V6 for more power or torque? Because while I do think that the V6 would be an excellent motor stock, I know I'd always be wanting to do more.

There are plenty of mods for the V6, but have you seen some of the early EB threads? They are getting huge gains with minor bolt ons and a tune.

I don't know if it'll feel sluggish... your ST feels pretty damn quick to begin with! I almost wanted to pull the trigger on one after my friend bought his ST3 a few months back. But it won't feel like your ST plus another 50hp. I thought the EB felt okay, but nothing like my 335i despite it having slightly higher peak figures. The power delivery feels like it surges in the mid range then dies down after the revs climb higher; just a different experience altogether.

If you're considering adding power down the road, FI is the way to go. That turbo leaves a lot of room to tinker with and you'll see easier gains for less if you go with the EB.

I don't mean that it has NO power below 3K, it's just that if you really want to get put back in your seat you need to downshift this engine. Not necessarily the case for the V8 or the EB.

It's got plenty of punch on the highway especially. You can go 70-110 in the blink of an eye. Hard for me to imagine the V8's roll-on acceleration to be honest.
its...

:eyebulge:

yes.. i love the rolling acceleration in the v8... cruising in 6th gear, 1700 RPM, downshift into 5th, and mash the pedal, its like warp drive. :)

Hard to say really. Going to rear wheel drive from wrong wheel drive makes a big difference on it's own.

That's only for modders, though. The vast majority of people who buy new cars don't mod them. It's hard to find a '90's Supra Turbo that hasn't been modded, but very few of those mods were made by the original owners.

The person he was responding to was asking about modding the car. Don't see your point here...

He was asking about modding though. My implication was that if he's looking to mod, it would make sense to upgrade to an EB.

Since I'd like to move as far away from forced induction(not to say that it is bad, but I love high-revving motors), I'd love to have a really powerful naturally aspirated V6.

The thing about the EB, is that even though I know it'll be a workhorse motor with all the tuners just like the ST, I don't like how it sounds. the 2.0L and 2.3L motors sound like "rubbish" in comparison to a GT or V6. Noise and sound are very important to me when it comes to driving, and the EB will not satisfy my want for a good sounding car; no matter the exhaust. I've got an Ford Racing catback on my ST and I still don't like how it sounds. I'm just tired of 4-banger noises.

At which point I'd go for the V8. There just won't be the aftermarket support of the V6 that the EB or the GT are going to have going forward since the motor is being phased out by Ford. The flat tq curve of the V8 is delicious. With a tune and free flowing exhaust and intake it revs pretty quickly, though I'd keep the stock limiter in the upper 6K range.

And that makes me sad and is the SINGLE thing that has me going back and forth with the V6; because it seems what Ford is doing, is trying to up-sell V6 people towards the EB and if they don't want the EB, then the GT it is...:tsk:

But I know that CAFE has a lot to do with it as well doesn't it. I guess then logically with what I've said, the GT is better then? :(

If you're buying a car based on how other people will view your purchase, you're not buying a car for you. It doesn't matter what a single person thinks other than you. If the V6 meets all of your wants/needs/desires then that's all you need. If you want/need the added performance the V8 gives, then go for that. If you want the ecoboost the most, why consider either of the others.
^^^^ This not to mention what your budget allows.

I have a 80 mile round trip commute to work. I would love to do that in a V8 but its just not practical. Turbo 6 or bust for me. STS-v turbo 6 is looking pretty sweet to me.

I'd hardly say that the V8 merits a sad face, but given that you don't want the EB...

It merits a sad face because insurance and the fact that I don't think I can afford one for a very long time; with much emphasis on "VERY long time". I the Ecoboost was a turbo-V6 I'd be all over it. :(

Same here man. I'm bored with my TTI6. Noise is huge to me. I caught the Mustang fever after driving my friend's '01 Bullitt. It wasn't as fast as my car, and the 2V 4.6 wasn't exactly the greatest thing in the world as far as paper stats were concerned, but lawd it sounded brilliant. I knew I wanted a V8 ever since that drive.
