So I skimmed through the other thread - sorry for the double post. But one thing, somewhat off topic but not completely - in the first couple pages people were asserting that engine braking wears out expensive parts...
That's just foolishness.
If you rev match - and don't shift to an improper gear or lug etc, engine braking does no more wear to the opposite side of the same tooth than acceleration does.
