Just to be clear, how fast can an aftermarket blower car run before requiring a bar/cage?

Atco lets us go to 10.0 and or 135. Theyll usually let you slide more on the MPH. Than the E/T.

I think its sub 10 for cage at the track I run at but they also cut you down to 1/8 mile at 10.0 too, but the heads up races are 10.5 index 1/4 mile and 1/8 faster than that, no sense in being faster than the class I want to run

PER NHRA DIVISION 5 REGIONAL TECH GUY

"You are correct. As long as it meets all of the highway safety requirements in the state where the vehicle is registered, and the anti lock brakes, airbag functions, and all other OEM safety related systems have not been tampered with, i.e. functioning as per manufacturers specification, then it would be acceptable for the Street Legal rules."

Again he throws in that "street legal class" stipulation, but I bet if confronted from local track tech you could state this and they would let you run down to 10.00

I have made plenty of of sub 10 second pases (low to mid 9’sec In the Hellion car) as have othes I know and never had anyone say anything to me
at Muncie (don’t have a cage or parachute ).
Indy is a different story as you get a warning and then get booted if you don’t slow down the next pass .
But then I only run test and tune so I am sure they are stricter in races .

Maple Grove seems pretty strict. They almost didn't let me pass tech as I didn't have metal valve stems, which is supposedly required when running 11.499 or quicker.

I would skip the weight reduction since it gets expensive quick and diminishes the street manners. I have a Paxton on my 2015 and it does well but if I were to do it again I would either stay motor or go with a turbo. Whipple is a great option as well. Any forced induction will get you in the 9s. I wouldn't be so against the fuel system. It is great security and allows the use of E85 which is much safer and cheap. I have been a 9.6 at 143 so far with headers, stall and Paxton on E85.
