Hey all.

Curious as to where the ecoboost will lie in terms of pricing. Im assuming in between the v6 and GT, im thinking about $27.5 as a base price. Thoughts?

Also, will the ecoboost insurance be much different than a GT?

Thanks for any insight on the subject!

Sounds about right to me, maybe a little higher than I expect. I would guess it prices just under a V6 vert which should remain about the same price. That would be a nice spread and still leave enough room between the Ecoboost w/ track pack and the V8.

I expect the ecoboost to be about $800-$1200 more than the V6. It was going to be the base motor originally so I'm sure it'll be cheaper than $27,500. They want to sell a lot of ecoboosts, the V6 is just there for fleet sales and penny pinchers

And people who like the Cyclone V6. It has quite the following.
I for one love the 3.7. If I lived about 5,000-6,000 feet lower it would hands down cyclone for me. At sea level I see very little advantage over the 3.7 with the 2.3 and it has a decent exhaust note to boot... I personally believe the ecoboost will be a 1,000 or less option.

I'm just going off of what the people who designed the car have pretty much said. They have stated it was pretty much an after thought.

Very true. The V6 itself is I would guess 500-1000 more than the current base model. Before the decision to bring back the V6 then, Ford would have looked at potentially offering a base Mustang (the I4) at anywhere around 1500-$2500(?) more than the 2014 V6.

Since the base accounts for more than half of current sales, this would be too big of a risk with the competition's pricing not changing much anytime soon. I think the lineup they decided on was very smart.

I don't think I heard a single member of Team Mustang say the words fleet or rental. The V6 is a great engine, not an afterthought.

but they have mentioned that it wasn't going to be in the car at all. it's a good engine but it 100% was not originally intended to be offered.

I don't know about "penny pinchers", the V-6 has been around for a while and has proven itself. Plus there are already a ton of after market accessories for it. While the specs for the 4cyl look good, my concern is how will it sound? Plus it's a very sophisticated engine, leaving a lot of things to go wrong.

I agree alot can go wrong with the ecoboost but i wish they had more packages for the v6 like they do for the eco

Sound is subjective, but if it sounds anything like a Mazdaspeed3, it will have the potential to make good noises.

or if it sounds anything like my 2.0 mkv GTI it will sound good. Probably better with a little more displacement. A GTI sounds pretty nasty for a 4cyl with the proper exhaust. Either way I'm still going V8. I'm staying away from anything with a turbo for a while

I think 2.3 Turbo is a great idea. That Pony car should be much less expensive than 5.0 GT and this give us the chance to compete with cars like:

Hyundai Genesis Coupe -4 cyl. 2L turbo- 274 HP - 0-60 in 5.7s - $26 500 MSRP
BMW 428i - 4 cyl. 2L twinscroll turbo - 240 HP - 0-60 in 5.7s - $40 000 MSRP
Audi A5 Coupe - 4 cyl. 2L turbo - 220 HP - 0-60 in 6.1 s -$39 000 MSRP
Audi TT - 4 cyl. 2L turbo - 211 HP- 0-60 in 5.3s - $39 900 MSRP

I hope that '15 Mustang will kick those krauts!

The current 3.7 will kick all of those cars asses. The only one it won't is the s5 ;) the 2.3 will be more aimed towards the 435i and genesis 3.8.
