Ok guys, I have a an ecoboost with an automatic transmission with about 1,500 miles that seems to have a weird problem when accelerating and breaking.

Sometimes when i press on the gas pedal the car will take a split second to respond and actually accelerate. This seems to happen more often when i slow down but not come to a complete stop and then try to accelerate.

The problem with the breaking is that when i'm trying to come to a complete stop, as daily driving frequently requires, the car will sort of jerk. Its as if the breaks loosen up for a split second right before i come to a complete stop. It's not a violent jerk or anything but it doesn't seem normal, i'm more concerned about the acceleration to be honest.

I've noticed these problems since I've gotten the car but thought that maybe it just had to be broken in as I've never had a brand new car before. Are these things normal? Please help, i would appreciate the feedback.

I've experienced this too - not sure if turbo lag or what.

I've also experienced very jerky acceleration when in Sport mode. A lot of times it seems that the car can't decide what gear it should be in.

Exactly, the acceleration is very jerky. I was under the impression that turbo lag occurred at higher accelerations when entering turbo? am i wrong? because like you said the acceleration seems jerky but a lot of the time its happening right after almost coming to a complete stop like i said. Haven't tried sport mode yet though.

The jerky deceleration in sport mode feels like compression braking as the transmission downshifts. Does sport modereduce the smoothness (slipping) of the torque converter?

Hey IVcruz,

I recommend visiting your local Ford Dealer for diagnosis. They'll be able to determine if this is an issue or not. When you do make an appointment, send over a PM; I'll look into resources on my end to assist further.

Were you still experiencing the concern, IVcruz?
