There was a new gas station built near my house recently, to my surprise they have ethanol.

The pump isn't labeled E85 though-just flex fuel, guaranteed E51 minimum (or something like that)..

It is a speedway station. Anybody have experience running this stuff? I'd like to switch, and I understand there are some sampling techniques that can be done to confirm, I'm just a little Leary of bad gas..

Flex fuel vehicles can take either regular gas or E85. The pump is probably labelled flex fuel for those that are confused whether or not they can use it.

ETA: Maybe it's E15?

Flex fuel is in fact, E85, correct?

Should be labeled if not buy a ethanol test tube and test it. I just installed my 52lb with adapters from Ford racing and waiting for tune tweaks from Lund so I can start running E85. If you got Netflix you should watch the movie called Pump. Pretty cool movie about fuel and the history of it

Flex fuel means it runs on gas, ethanol, or any combination of the two. I will have this bs in my STI.

What is the most ethanol mixter you can run with stock injectors and custom tune?

That was awesome! Just finished watching it. I wanted the extra power, being a veteran, nuclear trained, it resonated quite a bit more than I expected it to. I am quite familiar with alternative fuel/energy sources (15 years nuclear fission experience). Never, however, have I been aware of the "cartel" philosophy of the oil companies.

I've always speculated-and I inserstand TV isn't always unbiased, but that documentary really did resonate with me.

I will convert to E85 for the principle now, the extra power will just be an added bonus.

E85 pumps usually have a sticker that says minimum E70. I wouldn't run E50, but you'll need a test tube to be able to determine the quality of your E85. If you get tuned on actual E85, you can run down to E70 without issue. You will need ford racing 47lb injectors and a tune.
