I got a new subwoofer and when it plays low, i hear a rattle on outside of car under trunk area, I ordered a box of dynamat extreme, if I do 100% coverage do you think Itl eliminate the rattling sound noise?

guide me most important places to place the dynamat. The current stuff is just had I had laying around from previous car I put in.

the woofer isn’t that big but it’s hitting lower notes causing te noise. My other woofer didn’t go as low anddidn’t really hear any panel noise on outside

I'll let someone with more direct experience comment on your 100% coverage question as I am still working on mine and haven't fired it up.

But are you sure the sub isn't bouncing around?

That said, unless you're weight conscious, why not just do the 100% coverage knowing its the most you can do?

That spare tire well is so notoroius (per the forums) I am actually thinking about adding some CLD to the outside of the spare tire well but to be honest, I haven't crawled under there yet to evaluate whether that makes sense or not...

My tag lights rattle, may be that?

There's no point doing 100% coverage, it's actually supposed to be 30% or so to get the affects desired.

Not tag rattle no body panels, it’s just vibrating the cars while rear under body under trunk.

I have dynamat and ensolite on my plate. Etc tire is firm, the sub is 100% firm as I wedge a piece of wood and vinyl leather I madegoes under the shelf. 100% solid there I also dynamatThe shelf when I had stuff off

just trying to reduce the vibratiothrough the trunk leaving car

First a small disclaimer, the audio work was done by a shop (time to do audio installs gets harder to come across as one gets older, also life responsibilities get in the way too). We did spend a lot of time working out the design and sound deadening the whole car to make sure that nothing rattles, and interior noise is quieted down from the Borla ATAK exhaust. As for where to sound deaden in the trunk, I have attached the photos of my install. I would also recommend that you focus on the trunk lid, and the areas near the trunk lip (between the tail lights). You are already have a good start with Dynomat applied to the spare tire area of your trunk. Hopefully the pictures help, on where to apply, if you need more photos just let me know.

Thanks! I did dynomat the license plate she’s solid, zero noise, I dynomattes the full top of shelf where speakers are, I also took the cover off trunk lid, it’s fully dyno matted as well, I used all I had to do those areas. I think I had some left but my friend asked me for it.

but I just bought a 26lb box of it, so better believe in getting it as optimized as I can.

tvinkint abouteven when I’m done, tossing an old thick blanket around the tire, and over the spare tire under the trunk liner for additional dampening. Who knows, if I ever want to sleep got a blanket lol.

it’s this deeper frequency causing resonating, going tosquash it.

my doors are also dynomatted as well, and got speakerfoam rings behind and around them as well.

I hadthe shelf speakers rattling loose over time from bass, I put a drop of glue on each of the speaker screws and tightened them down.

it’s been a year. No more rattles.

I think it depends on how far you want to take it.

I have seen professional installers say 25% is all you need, then in some of their installs they fully cover everything.

I actually have 8 tubes of Sound Skin in my garage waiting to go in. Whole car is what I am going for.

All done. Cut my hands up pretty bad I only used part of the box. Anywhere I felt was tinny I did.
Putting all together now

sound test, I think the bass is a bit more clear? I don't really know why it would be any different, but idk. could be placebo for all my hard work. the car isn't rattling as bad outside, actually, its like. 70% gone. but there's one weird small rattle on right side of my deck lid, when I release trunk, no rattle, but when I close it, rattle, when I put my hand on it, it still rattles, like maybe there's something inside the little cover lose or bouncing. dunno, can't hear it unless your like 1 foot behind car when its jamming.

inside the car you'd never know so whatever.

id say its worth while.

learned my lesson on the cut up hands, I use gloves now.

Glad it is better, and your pics looks good. Your rattle might be a wire harness rattling. You can always use wrap foam around it to keep it quiet.

I don’t really experience much road noise. But

I have dynomatted + ensolite the doors, and now the trunks fully done. So I assume those helped a lot.

I’m only an ecoboost and my tires was pirelli p7 all season plus, super quiet tires.

I have newcontinental dsw6 but havnt had many miles to compare.

The new P7 plus2s are reportedly the quietest A/S tires, but they're only 'grand touring'. The DWSs shouldn't be much noisier, but definitely noisier. However, they're the highest A/S rating, which is 'ultra high-performance all-season', so more suitable for a Mustang IMO.

I honestly had no issues, but I’m geared 3.31 so not as strong torque as the higher hearings, and it did everything I tossed at it.

but on a plus note the new tires match my calipers being conyinental. Wasn’t my intent but cool the brands match the big meaty tires
