My Mustang is dark (Magnetic), so it picks up a lot of dust. Should I get a duster, or will that risk scratches?

The California duster works great. Using on a daily driver? Not sure I would since you are picking up a lot of road grime. You would be much better served using a quick detailer and MF towel and keeping it clean that way.

What Todd15Fastback said is also very accurate about the quick detailer and microfiber towel. I'm a novice at this but someone who knows about detailing told me that after you apply wax you're safe to use the duster and keep it looking good by following the duster with a quick detailer.

I am using Griot's Detailer and microfiber towel. The towel will do a great job of removing dry surface dust. In some case, I also wet down the car with distilled water from a sprayer bottle and wipe with the microfiber towel.

Dont ever use a duster! I detail cars for a living, thats a big no no. just use some QD and a clean micro fiber.

There is a right way and a wrong way to use a duster.

Waterless Wash or quick detailer with a Microfiber towel is worlds better than any car duster.

I grabbed some quick detailer at autozone..ugh , i know..its either Black Magic or Mcguiars I dont remember. However, when I use it, it leaves a film that I have to buff off...is this normal? I am always scared to do the MF and QD because I am afraid that I'm 'rubbing" on the car too much. My car is garage kept, NOT a daily driver and doesnt see rain. Anyone have a quick run down on using the quick detailer? I just fear that I am doing something wrong and making swirls.

Freshly washed car sat outside for a few hours and picked up a tiny amount of dust... Thought this would be a great opportunity to use my new duster!
Wtf are you supposed to wash them first? NOT A FAN

I have had one for years and it doesn't swirl up my paint. I don't remember it leaving fibers behind when it was new. I work at a grain elevator so a duster is very helpful and much quicker than using a quick detailer or waterless wash

I can attest to the red fibers it leaves behind, my car was covered in them after the first use....it now sits in my trunk and I curse at it whenever I see it.

The first time I used my California duster I was not pleased or impressed... Seemed to leave most of the dust on the car, just pushed around into more noticeable piles. However, it is true what it says that the dirtier it gets the better it cleans. I've been using it just about daily or every other day for a month now to get the daily dust/pollen off, and it does a great job in about 5 minutes. I follow up with detail spray and a microfiber to get any remnants, which aren't many. Whole process takes about 8 minutes, and the car looks just washed again. I've been watching closely for micro scratches or swirl marks, and haven't noticed any. I think it is great if you use it properly and lightly... And only on light dust/pollen, NOT dirt or grime.
