Freshly washed car sat outside for a few hours and picked up a tiny amount of dust... Thought this would be a great opportunity to use my new duster!
Wtf are you supposed to wash them first? NOT A FAN

I see you didn't read one of my comments above...lol
That's one of the cons. I'm not sure how you're using the duster but try passing it over in the same directions very lightly. I saw a Junkman video on youtube about this. The red fibers do eventually go away after using the duster.

I did read your comment... But a pic says it much better. I did watch the video, it provided good info and a few laughs as well!

I've been using my California Duster for a few years now with good results. If it doesn't rain that week, my car stays spotless by a dusting once a day, and a quick detailing spray with MF cloth once a week. Everyone usually comments on how spotless my car is...hasn't been the case with the Mustang yet since the roads are still full of dust and crap from what they put on the roads for winter.

I also use the California duster with no problems. I just lightly run the duster over the surface so that it won't cause any marring.

old thread but you guys having problems with them are reading the instructions right? About the 48 hours on newspaper. First time i used one on an old car years ago i didnt read and it left the red stuff you guys are referring to. Now it never does as long as i let it sit outside on newspaper 24 hours a side.

I use duster, no red fibers left behind.
Then follow up with quick detail spray

I use a duster all the time, followed by quick detailer from CG when needed. I've only washed my car maybe 4 times since I bought it back in march. I only have about 2200 miles on it though. Paint looks fantastic either way. I live in the dessert too.

Just have to use properly. I had an issue with red fibers I guess but don't remember it being much of an issue. Defiantly hasn't been one in a long time.

Dusters area horrible idea regardless of "quality." Anytime you touch the paint with anything you are at least fine scratching it. You are decreasing the amount of scratches you are applying when using a QD as it provides lubricant for the microfiber to slide across your car.

It's all up to you as it's your car, but take the extra 20 minutes to use a quality microfiber and QD versus a duster.

I would not use a duster. If it's dirty, just wash it.

I used to get frustrated about mid-week dirt/dust/pollen accumulation, but now I try to resist the urge as I am sure even the most careful owner runs the risk of micro scratching.

I'd rather just bust out a full wash in 30 minutes.
