What's wrong with stock?
In addition to what was just mentioned, it's a weird one. On paper vs real world don't necessarily always agree. IMHO, on this product, real world vs paper results disagree and you can feel the worth while benefits while driving. Only you can decide if the price is worth it to you.

The GT350, especially the R should have had a carbon drive shaft from the factory. Jamal Hameedi claims that the steel version was stiffer than the carbon one despite the 5th and 6th gen GT500 being carbon. Personally I think it was a money issue. He discusses this at the 4:27 mark.

This has been discussed before, the GT350 at 8250 redline would exceed the long shaft length's critical speed at 1:1 ratio. When I spoke with QA-1, the gentleman stated they test their critical speeds on every shaft, but hadn't for the Magnum XL conversions. When he asked for the shaft length, he then exclaimed that he was almost certain it would be good for well over 200 mph (because of it's short length).

The long shaft associated with the shorter format 3160/6060 has critical speed concerns, only made worse by an extra 1250 rpm over the 2014 GT500 and 2k rpm over the 2010 verson for the GT350.

Which is weird because the fastest shaft speed is potentially an S197 GT500 in 5th at close to redline. Even though it has lower rpm limit, with the overdrive, the shaft spins faster and unlike the GT350, it has the power to reach high rpm in overdrive.

So the long and short of it is the DSS is less money because its less quality and a PITA to install.
I am pricing out a QA1 this week from my dealer buddy but the DSS has a long list of vibration threads and thats what has me thinking avoid them

Did you have a chance to weight them? Curious to see 'real' weight saving.

I did not. I always forget to do cool stuff like that. But I can’t imagine there’s any discernible difference between the two (the DSS vs QA1); it would be extremely minimal

Quality?? Meh, like I said originally, the DSS is a very nice piece. Even I was surprised side by side (forgot to take pics of that too [uugghh…eye roll to myself]). Look and feel, fit and finish, weave of the carbon, all those things; the DSS is on par.

And yes, the QA1 is much easier to install.

I feel the 'adapter' weights a little ..curious to know how much. Thanks for the reply though!

Sure, it has its own weight. But the total length between the two is still obviously the same. Insignificant if any diff at all. You may be overthinking that one.
