Hey y'all, prepping for when my dss aluminum driveshaft arrives for my 2017 gt pp. I see that the one end does not have enough space for a socket so should I just wrench it till tight or order myself a set of crows feet so I can properly use a torque wrench and set it to spec? Also dss claims you need lockouts and braces or it "WILL" cause damage to their driveshaft. No other brand makes the claim that it will cause damage. I do not have nor plan to buy or install lockouts since I don't want the NVH they bring. Unless it's super worth it on a 99% street car that gets driven hard as hell. Do you think I'm fine to not run any of that stuff or will it indeed cause damage to the transmission, differential and driveshaft like dss claims or are they just saying that to cover their ass in the event anything does happen?

No, from what I can see the Allen bolts are only for the adaptors and then you resuse the OEM bolts for the DSS. Won't know for sure until it arrives but DSS makes it sound like you need to either order new OEM hardware or reuse the old stuff. Also even with that link it shows a wrench on a cut down Allen key. How do you know when it's the proper torque? And even with a crowd foot won't the torque be wrong since the Allen key will twist after a certain point? I can twist those keys by hand without any tools required

Copy that. thought it might have been what you meant. I haven't dabbled with drives shaft changes personally. Ive just seen a handful asking about the linked topic and thought maybe.

Sorry can't directly help.

No worries, honestly I'm even more confused now. I've seen a couple of terrible videos that don't show much of use mostly just finished result and some of them have hex bolts and some have Allen key bolts. I won't know for sure until mine arrives (should be here by this weekend) but I NEED to install it this weekend. I have no car rn since it's on jackstands and I'm tired of taking my bike in the rain lol. To many idiots drivers for a bike in rain

Well I wish the best of luck! Post your progress as you go or run into problems.

All I can really say is definitely don't rush a Drive shaft install. And definitely test it above 80mph.

I know lots of people have done them without issue here, or just minor hiccups.

my buddy has done two drive shaft swaps. Swapped to his first one. Everything went smooth install wise. but then upon test drive shook violently. Clocked/rotated it 180*(at transmission) had some effect but not enough. In the end the thing was just not balanced correctly. (I've also noticed that allot here)

However, he got his replacement. Install was a bit more wonky. But worked flawlessly right away and drove on issue free.

I was the friend drinking beer in the garage hiding his sockets and wrenchs. So my insight on details is minimal.
