Hardly a news flash, guys.

I could see it coming some 50 years ago, and not because I wanted to see it happen.

Without the advent of 6 spd/8 spd/10 spd transmissions, no one could've really saw this coming. It is a recent phenomena.

Education? Criticise is the UK spelling
If that is the case, then I am sorry. :hail:

(first New Years Resolution accomplished: seek forgiveness at least once before returning back to "normal" mode ).

I think I must have misunderstood- you're not suggesting the 6MT might be faster than the 10A in a straight line are you?
Negative.

I'm just saying I need to see a professional unbiased test to confirm it, as there are many factors involved which cause cars to become either faster/slower/no change. We car people have been fooled before when things did not turn out as we thought, just being cautious.

Wasted? Lol the 18 is definitely a improvement over 15-17
DickR understood what I was saying. If I traded in my 15 now for an 18 with magneride and an a10 transmission I'd go about 17k in the hole not to mention the aftermarket stuff already on my car. So is it an improvement, yes. Is it work that much cash loss, no... not to me but Dick probably makes twice my income so more power to him.

:D

We are living on SS and IRA withdrawals after decades of being very careful to save for retirement and keeping cars for many years. It blows my mind that now that I'm old I can finally be wasteful with a couple of "only keep it 3 years" cars. It helps that my wife insists on keeping our 97 GT as our around town daily driver. :) Plus except for Konis which obviously are not relevant to a car with MagneRide the few after market parts (autocross wheels and a couple of sway bars if needed) will carry over to the 18. :)

Love the '18, but I don't see it happening in my immediate future either.

I got my '16 Prem GT used with 3,000 miles for 36k (sticker was 40k).

An equivalent optioned '18 (Prem/auto/20" wheels) would be 42k, a full 6k more than my current car. Not really comfortable with that ...

FEEDBACK needed, gang. I struggled to get good times with my Roushcharged '11. Using DRs I only did a best 11.70 at 122MPH. I just had a real hard time controlling wheelspin. It was a stick (brembo) with 3.73 gears and I had to shift into 5th before the end of the track. I had it down to consistent 11.80 with just summer tires. Actually the car was better off shifting at 6800 rpm. I had good 60ft times. I would love the stick again, but I want to take the car to the DS as well as autocross. Any opinions on what would be better, the A10 or the MT82? My '15 auto with a tune is a blast to shift with the paddle shifters but still not the control of a stick. I would love to see a "launch control" '18 at the ds. I'm sold on the '18 from everything I've been reading. Thanks.

This ↑↑↑

If nothing else, aren't the axle ratios different (generally favoring the MT)?

I'll give you 'recent public awareness', but that's about as far as I'll go.

I really wish I'd saved a copy of the little composition I wrote for some college-related reason back around 1968 (give/take a year, it's been a while). The AT's potential was just as obvious with the 3A vs the 3M's and 4M's back then, even before the advent of lock-up torque converters (though you would have been counting more heavily on the TC to crutch the wider gear spacing).

Sometimes the "cost" of a wasted opportunity exceeds the amount of "wasted money" involved, no?

Not a $10,000-$12,000 improvement. I can tell you that much. I would at least wait till these things are discounted to around $40,000 or below as more time goes by.

If you mean "do it now before it is too late" then absolutely. ;)
