Is this a Ford trans or a Gm trans, I mean i know its a calaberation but which company had the original idea for this transmission! It looks just like a 6r80 so I'm leaning towards Ford having the original idea. Am i wrong?
It was a joint effort, but Ford took the lead on the project. GM took the lead on the joint effort with the 9 speed fwd auto.

autos are taking over lol I honestly wish they would bring active rev matching to the manual that would be kinda cool.

As I said both are great the manual feels improved and liked how the clutch felt. How ever the auto just feels faster due to me not being able to shift like im a race car driver.

Came down to city traffic at 5pm in Chicago it sucks, and as petty as it sounds the remote start for winter . I really like the ford app where you can program car to start at certain times. That's pretty cool

Automatics have been shifting faster than most humans since the 1960's. Which was actually one of the reasons given for police cars using automatics (I actually did read that way-back-when).

I'm not one of those few exceptions either. Never have been (and certainly never will be at this stage of the game). But I'd still rather it be me that occasionally guesses wrong about exactly when to be in what gear, because there's at least some chance I'll be able fix that for the next time.

Ya I was dead set on a 6 speed but damn the auto . And damn that active exhaust I have never heard a stock mustang sound so good. Almost don’t need to change
Judging solely off YouTube videos, this is the first mustang GT I wouldn’t change out the stock exhaust. Sounds amazing

Correct me if I’m wrong but until recently (2018) the automatics in mustangs lagged performance wise to their manual counterparts....I know way back in the Fox era the autos were dogs from the factory. Stock of course. People have been building them out for drag racing for some time.

Wrong! lol

Back when I bought new Fox body GT's, the rule was the automatic was 1/2 second slower so I never even considered them. Not so today (see below).

Not sure about "monster", but C&D reported the same times with either trans on an S550:

I think we need a Safe Space for the 10 speed auto snowflakes. Remember we must not critise the 10 speed and upset the snowflakes.
As a strong conservative, I find your use of the word "snowflake" in concert with those who favor the 10 spd auto as not only seriously misdirected, but rather naive as well.

Get your act together ...

(and learn how to spell "criticize")

The use of the word snowflake is very, very often by those who are unreasonably sensitive about a subject themselves and like to deflect, as hypocrites do.

I would enjoy sampling this 10R myself sometime soon to see how well they calibrated it. I wouldn't buy one because I know I'll have more fun with a manual despite being slower, but I completely understand why someone would buy this one. It's additive enough to the performance of the 18 GT that it's a significant consideration to make for many.

This ↑↑↑

I might also give the A10 a test drive if I was currently in the market to buy a new car - test driving a new car in automatic being something I've never in my life done (all of the automatics I've driven since I could afford new cars have either been rentals or somebody else's including an employer's, but that didn't mean I wasn't paying attention and noticing why I wouldn't want one for myself).

The use of the term "snowflake" was a very, very, unknown term among the population until used by conservatives as a description for irrational liberals.

As for which transmission makes for quicker acceleration runs, there has yet to be independent professional testing of the 10 speed. No one knows.

Those magazine times
Those private hero run times.

Well the 10's acceleration ratios (2-6) keep the engine on the big peak power plateau that this new engine makes, so I'd be shocked if it weren't consistently faster. The 6 spd went to wider spaced ratios, so the rev drop-off between gears will be more than it was with previous MT82 ratio set and more than the 10R.

Without an independent professional test, there are too many variables involved to know if the 10 speed is faster. Available vehicle traction (to make use of the better ratios), how the factory tuned the transmission, etc.

We'll just have to wait and see ...
