I spent all of 5-10 minutes driving an EB with the pp and 50th aniv, DIB, and a GT premium, non pp, 18 inch wheels. Both cars were autos. Initial impressions.
First was the EB. Really liked the steering feel, better even than my old BMW 335I. Car was comfortable, really impressed with the handling overall, maybe its because i have been driving a 4runner for 8 months. Acceleration was ok, motor was working really hard. I guess thats what happens when you have a 2.3 l engine pushing a car this size. A 2.7 would be perfect. Even though the EB was more nimble, the acceleration was a deal breaker for me. I can see where a lot of people would be happy with it, i'm just looking for more.
The GT had 18 inch wheels so the handling was not as good as the EB, i guess weight plays a role in that too. In sport mode it was still excellent handling wise, steering feel was great. Acceleration was good, much more in line with the character of the car than the EB. The exhaust was a little too muted, but the sound was good. Again, it fits the character of the mustang.
Seats, stock seats were ok, but i will be opting for the recaros. Standard seats are a little too soft for me. also, love the "19" black rims on the EB, wish they were available on the GT. If i could get the PP on the auto i would have placed an order on the spot. Now i'm left to look for a rare auto + recaros at a deal, or see what 2016 brings. I really doubt i wait for 2016, i may look for what i want and then throw some lowering springs and a cat back exhaust and call it a day. What kind of discounts off MSRP are dealers giving right now?
