Is the 5.0 supposed to run hot? Been driving the car and feel heat next to my leg coming from the center console. I assume it's drivetrain heat. I could be wrong, and if I am please let me know so. But wanted to know if this is normal or not?

How far was your drive? Auto or manual? My car is V8 manual, and I haven't noticed any heat from the center console on my leg, but then I have yet to sit in stop & go traffic in the hot summer sun.

Auto. It was about 30 minutes, stopped to get food, then probably 45 minutes or an hour after that. I noticed it yesterday as well on a road trip that took about 2 hours

I've also only noticed it at night. No idea why. Maybe cuz it's cooler outside at night and I feel the heat.

one of the Auto owners would have to chime in. Wouldn't surprise me if some heat gets through. It would be kind of cool to have a Auto transmission temp (digital) gauge. Just for fun. See how the heat generated compares at highway speed vs. stop & go traffic, summer / winter, etc. I don't imagine an Auto would be prone to heat unless towing.

Yes, I can definitely feel the heat on my auto. It's not heat from the transmission but the catalytic converter.
Auto's do have a temp gauge. Mine is normally hovering around 200F.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can feel the heat. It doesn't bother me but this is both my first mustang and first v8 so just wanted to make sure. I appreciate the response!

Very common on RWD high horsepower cars. The transmission and exhaust heat under the car can be quite intense. The Dodge Viper is probably one of the worst offenders, you could fry an egg on the interior of that car after a hard run :eyebulge:
