Car has only 10k miles, but inserting the seat belt into the latch has been troublesome for some time now.

It is as though the latch won't quite depress far enough to allow the buckle to snap into place. I have been tugging on it to make sure I am secure before driving off. If I push a little harder it goes in. (No jokes please!) Other times it behaves normally.

I wonder if something has fallen into the latch, but there is no easy way to tell. I don't trust my local dealer with my car so I prefer to solve this myself. And I suspect there is some wiring to detect a person's presence for seat belt warning and air bag function.

Anyone else experience this?

Depressing driver's side button. It does not depress as far as the passenger side:

Try some silicon spray. Could just be poor tolerance.

If it's a bad unit? Shouldn't be too much, very common part. Easy install.
