Driveline Vibration

There are extensive threads on this. Does anyone else have the dreaded driveline vibration between 80kmh and 120kmh. Low rumble like driving on a ripple strip but not as pronounced. Unfortunately I do!

If anyone has had this and gone to their dealer what was the outcome, did they recognise and action the fault ?

I thought I had it early on, but then did some testing on another road and decided it was the (first) road and not the car that was the problem.

Interestingly the first road that proved to be the problem is relatively new. On reflection our other car also has a slight vibration on this problem road but I would not have picked it if not looking for it. The Mustang seems more sensitive to the road surface.

Make sure you do your testing on a number of different roads.

What a surprise the 2017 have the vibrations too. Congratulations you are now a member of the Mustang Vibration Defect Club, Welcome. I regret to inform you that whatever they replace or do it may never get this fixed because Fords position is it's a "characteristic of the car". Enjoy the ride.

I have an auto. I noticed e it on the m7 and m1. It gets worse with speed. I took it up to 140 and it's worse at higher speed.... So it's not a resonant frequently.... Its there all the time. I suspected ford would take the position that it's a characteristic of the car. I'll give them the opportunity to make it right or I'll sell it and go back to bmw (my last car)

I notice it on the pacific highway between 80-90km/h. Once I get up to 100km/h it goes away.

Do you here the vibration with the window up and down? Try it.

Haven't tried window down, probably be to much wind noise to hear it. It a low rumble that reverberates in the cabin, but its not loud or overpowering, but once you hear it you keep hearing it if that makes sense. As you get to 110 + you can start to feel the vibrations in your butt.

auto 2017 here, no issues with mine. i'd go speak to ford anyway, its supposed to be a smooth ride, it is a new car after all.

I've noticed parts of the m7 aren't smooth, almost so, i thought i had a flat tyre or the wheel balance was out. I've driven alot of hwy and dont have any vibrations, im manual too

I have a GT Auto build date July 2016. I have driven on the M7 recently, no vibrations or odd noises at those speeds. I feel for you mate, that would really piss me off. I did have that once when I was 18 in a piece of sh8t old car but never since in any new car. According to that US thread it would appear that it is the drive shaft??

I had an earlier model MX-5 and it was famous for having a vibration at certain range of highway speeds (known as the Miata 65mph shimmy). The fix was mostly in the wheel balance and alignment. I certainly wouldn't assume the factory had it set correctly so it's the place I would start if I had this issue.

Though if it's at ALL speeds then I agree, it's likely something else and not just a particular resonance. FWIW my Pajero has a slight vibration at around 110km/h. Under or over (off road of course) that and it's fine.

Kind of sounds similar to my issue. 80-90k's on the Hway I would hear and feel a faint thumping, if i put my hand on the transmission tunnel I could actually feel it. The thump would increase in speed as the revs climbed (noticed between 1800 - 2200 rpm.

I looked at my centre bearing on the drive shaft and noticed it had a lot of play when pushing it upward toward the floor but not as much when pulling it down toward the ground, long story short, Ford put a new drive shaft in and its been fine since
