Finally got my GT500 and had an opportunity to drive it yesterday. I've noticed a low speed driveline clunk when getting on and off the throttle. It feels like play in the driveline. I can't duplicate it over 10mph. A quick google search showed about half of the people saying it was completely normal with the DCT and the other half said they had the problem and the dealer was able to fix it. What's the general consensus here and if it is an issue, where should I start?

Probably normal DCT noises. Do you know how they work? It might help you understand the noises.

Is it your first DCT? They take some time to get used to. It’s not a conventional “automatic “. They can be clunky at low speed.

I've driven plenty of DCT vehicles, but this is the first GT500. None of the others have exhibited this characteristic. It doesn't really bother me as long as it's normal. Otherwise, I'll start looking for play in the driveline

See what you think after you put on some miles. I would say normal mode makes it a little worse because it’s hunting around more for the right gear. Sport seems perfect for me.

It's definitely not a shifting issue. What I'm feeling is occurring in first gear at a low speed cruise. Could be clutch engaging and disengaging I suppose.

I like to disassemble things.
I've driven plenty of DCT vehicles.....
If they were European, you can forget any comparison. The Tremec unit is as beefy as they come and designed to be used behind a fairly large displacement engine (modern day, anyway).

You didn't mention if the transmission fluid had been checked recently and if it's never been checked, there's a fair chance that Flatrock didn't completely fill it.

It's a pretty easy procedure but you need a quickjack or a two-post so if you don't have those, make an appointment with your favorite store. Then pick up a liter of Motorcraft's DCT Fluid. There's a procedure in the shop manual but it's simple and straight forward. You run the engine for a few minutes while it's on the lift, pop the side plug and start filling. When oil starts coming out the side hole, stop. Run the motor another couple minutes and recheck fluid level, adding if necessary.

Having one of those squeeze bottles with a hook snout (or similar) to fill the gearbox with is a must have due to the side port.

To date I haven't read a post where someone did this and did NOT find the gearbox low on fluid. Some just a couple ounces, others, quite a bit more and low fluid will definitely bring on the "clunks."

This video will tell/show you all you need to know.

I’d heard about them being low, but have not checked it and had not considered that possibility. I have a Fathouse pan, line kit, both filters and a bunch of fluid sitting in the shop waiting for me to have the time, so that will be addressed if it’s an issue.
