as stated above, push down for reverse, as it was for the last gen too.

I like the push down for reverse, reminds me that I'm driving a 400+ horsepower rear drive car, and not something fluffier like my Focus which has the pull-up for reverse and thus weird countersunk shift knobs..

Wow this got off topic. Thanks Grmace427 for the feedback. I am leaning towards removal of at least the front to gain better access.

It will rest against the top of the exhaust so you don't need to worry about damaging the driveshaft. I also unbolted the exhaust clamps at the trans area and let that hang a tad. Make sure to mark the driveshaft relative to the flex disc and the output shaft of the trans to make sure you bolt it back up the way it came out.
This is exactly what we did......made install a snap....and no bloody knuckles.:D

How many people removed the driveshaft and exhaust when they installed their MGW?
Probably very few as that is not the way MGW outlined in their instructions, assuming most folks are like me and just paint by the numbers.

Might be best to just call them and ask, they have done a lot of installs and are very helpful on the phone.

you didnt have to for the previous revision and now with the more compact revision there is even less of a reason to remove the driveshaft.

Is there risk of damage when removing the driveshaft? It looks like a quick job to remove the driveshaft and then direct access to remove and install new shifter. I have not been under the car yet to look. Just trying to simplify life where possible..........

especially on the new design the potential time saved vs the time spent removing/reinstalling the driveshaft is not there
