I've seen a few YouTube videos recommending replacing the Drier when making repairs to the AC System because of leaks. I've also read a few web articles that make the same recommendation. Whenever the AC system leaks and is exposed to atmosphere the Drier should be replaced before flushing, evacuating, and re-charging the system.

I discussed this with a mechanic I know and he claims it's only necessary if I had compressor problems prior to the Evaporator leaking. He claims that if the only problem I had was a leaking evaporator I don't need to replace the Drier. So I didn't replace the Drier before recharging the system. But ... given that these lousy Evaporators fail regularly I'm now regretting NOT replacing the Drier.

Should I replace the Drier and re-charge the system? Have most of you replaced the Drier when you replaced your Evaporators?

Thx.
