Data logging my 15 year old takes care of it its all touch screen stays plugged in the OBD port, you can access the cars data on screen, all data logging tunes etc are stored on the SD card, you can switch tunes in 3 minutes, has a small port on the Front for laptop just down load and email to Lund 24h later New tune with updated mapping if required I'm on my 6th tune started with a base map and went from there, I can only say it's made my whipple car a perfect driver, Granny and Track ready on one tune, my Father drove it the other day he thought it was stock till I encourage him to press the Throttle harder. The feed back you get from your tuner makes it personal he explains he changes and why to the revised tune and asks what they can do to make it better for you, 5 star firm.
The ngauge does sound good however if its mounted in the dash do you ever need to take the sd card out to either update a tune or data log and capture it on a lap top, it would seem a real PITA to remove that card once in. OR can you effectively access the SD card for uploading a log and downloading a new tune through the small port in the front by having the lap top in the car???? I think from what you say that is possible, but i would really like to know for certain. I want to get them to refine it a few times and thus taking the dash apart is not ideal. If i cant do it without the SD card removal I could go for the window attachment until its all settled I suppose???

It comes out easy, just pull it out the dash, its not fixed in it just holds in place but if you grab it and pull it will come out. ;)

Nope, your stuffed and would have to drive to someone with an SCT or get them to come to you, or go to Ford.

But hey imagine asking Ford for a crank re-learn they would have no bloody idea, haha. :D

P.S. If your getting Lund tune, go ahead, if you get the engine light I would not mind popping round with my SCT, once its cleared you will be fine. I find it is only when going from stock to tune or changing tuners that seems to trigger it. Doing tune updates with same tuner seems to cause no issue.
I need to come around to your place and see your SCT set up:thumbsup: I'm not that bothered about having the gauge... SCT and Lund seems to be the way to go:)

I keep it in my car, feel free to pop by my work anytime though there is not much to show really, it is all pretty simple.

Seems like you are a bit on the fence here....:) The decision is made its Lund with ngauge and as Gibbo suggests I will see who has a back up SCT in case. That's why the forums are so helpful someone always has experience of such things and you can't beat that.

On the Mustang they are just the SCT canned tunes, which are OK, but tuners such as Lund, JDM can and do better. :)

Gibbo I seem to remember you saying something about there being an issue with US/UK SCT units and one not being able to use tunes meant for the other...?

Correct they are region locked.

A tuner pays SCT big license money to buy a license to export a tune for given region. Of course USA tuners cannot export tunes to transfer to a UK SCT and are not willing to pay SCT for that privilege.

So if you want Lund, JDM, Livernois or another US tuner to tune your car (highly recommended) then you need a USA SCT X4 handheld or nGauge.

If your happy to let a UK tuner like Dreamscience or Pumabuild tune your car then you need a UK SCT X4 which is the Dreamscience iMAP device as they have exclusive distribution on UK SCT X4 so they re-brand it as Dreamscience claiming it is theirs. They then load on the SCT tunes exported for UK handhelds, so Octane 91, 93 tunes and 91, 93 with JLT CAI.

That is it, you have a different CAI tough, though its pretty easy to work out what needs changing in the binary to support different CAI's but not sure if Dreamscience know how or if they would just get SCT to do it for them.

In short if your gonna throw your warranty away then forget UK tuners and get a tune from Lund, Livernois or JDM. I rate Lund very highly!

Just asking as looking on CJ's and they make a point of saying their US SCT is not compatible with NON-US cars, which, with what you've just said, I guess means because of the tunes rather than any inherent US/UK differences with the cars themselves?

Correct buy a second hand un-married USA SCT X4 from ebay, got mine for about ÂŁ200 delivered and then I purchased a Lund tune direct from Lund for $200, plenty of SCT X4 USA for sale on this forum and ebay.

Its the best mod you can do, you have seen my gains compared to a stock car with Lund/PMAS combo, they are huge and the majority comes from tune.

If you go Lund, ask for Dakota and tell him you want my throttle mapping otherwise if your sensitive to how your car drives the stock throttle mapping when tuned makes the throttle jumpy and over-sensitive with an open CIA like PMAS. Jon II & Dakota at Lund acknowledged this issue and wrote some throttle maps which vastly improved it, throttle is butterly smooth now. I really do not think any other tuner would show so much dedication.

If you go Lund, ask for Dakota and say you want Andrew Gibson's last tune revision for his stock GT IM, GT TB and PMAS CAI with improved throttle mapping, just make sure you fill with Tesco 99 or Vpower 99 if you do or request they set it for Octane 91-93 as my tune is set for 93-94 Octane. That will put you in 460-470BHP region, so about 30-40 more than you have now and a lot more torque. :)

Hay pal the SD card is 2gig it can be cleared via laptop I've not cleared anything off it as yet 6 tunes in and it still has 1.4 gig of space. The gauge Never needs to come out but like Gibbo said it just pulls out Its only pressed in place no fixings as such, it's simple no fuss no mess, iv also only needed to do a crank relearn with Whipple tune not the Lund.

Right thanks to all the comments I think I know where I am going on this and thanks to those in the know for taking time to debate it.. It will be Lund Tune with Ngauge (I just like the ngauge unit ) I will, if OK ask them to copy Gibbo's map for throttle and last tune. I am going PMAS CAI but what do GT IM and TB mean (I know the GT bit just trying to work out , if I ask for it best to know!)

If I get the check light and need crank relearn I will beg, borrow or buy an SCT. I assume that any SCT device (UK or US) will help crank relearn as we are not using the tune on it, simply using its relearn function????

Because my latest tune from Lund is for GT 350 IM, GT 350 TB and GT 350 CAI. So that would not work on your car.

The dyno results I posted at weekend were for stock IM, stock TB with PMAS CAI "tune required" with updated throttle mapping for Vpower 99, you want this tune. ;)
