Since our tracks closed decided to try a dragy 1/4 mile run. This is a 18’ GT 10r80 PP1 premium full weight besides drag pack.

I had to do 2nd gear launch just eased into it. DA was 800ft. Can’t wait to see what it does actually hard launch in 1st. I did find out I need to get 3.31 gears as it’s shifting into 7th .

Nice run. I always wondered about the "6.5 psi" pulley. Why does ESS call it a 6.5psi, when it hits 8psi? That's an 8 PSI pulley to everyone else.

I've noticed this too, but am curious if it's due to max engine RPM suggestions. Palm Beach Dyno had a video on this on their youtube channel. I don't remember the exact specifications but they pulled a centrifugal supercharged car to about 7000rpm and it made 13psi, pulled the same car to 8000rpm and it made 15.5 or so psi.

Its based off RPM mine doesn't make 8 till right a shift point 7400-7500. For the most part its 6.5. An also different things cause more restriction so boost will read higher. I still have cats so I'm sure that might affect it some. Also the G3 head unit I have makes slight more boost per pulley than the G2.

Other companies all rate peak boot which in your case is 8psi. Without your headers (stock exhaust) you would probably see 9 psi. In reality, you have about a 9# pulley, not the 6.5# that ESS claims. Sand bagging at it's finest.

You can literally read through most supercharger threads and MOST kits car to car don't make the same boost. Some make more than advertise some make less etc.. Why so much negativity toward ess? He clearly said g3 makes little more boost than g2, so with 6.5 pulley turning little more rpm than they advertise yes 8 is correct for 6.5 pulley.

I just find it odd that they underrate their pulleys. Gen 3 will use a different pulley to get the same boost as a gen 2. Maybe ESS rates all of their pullies at an average of 6,000 crank rpm instead of for each specific application like everyone else. The Coyote revs higher than most other engines out there.

They rate them as GEN 2 7200 rpm. G2 blowers from the ess thread are right at the boost they say.
