Still haven't seen the drag co-efficient numbers. They only published it's 3% better...When I inquired from Ford Service last year, the response was "it's considered proprietary information for the Ford Motor Company and is unavailable to the public." I'm one of those pony car guys who likes to know all the specs on their. It's how we roll. Most car owners could care less but not us Mustang owners. We pony car drivers are all about the numbers, what's the big secret? And by the way they do publish it for their other cars. Such as the Fusion .27....I don't expect it to be be class leading, it's a wicked ride regardless of the numbers, but it would be nice to know.

I agree, they must not be too proud of it. I remember the days back in the 80's when Auto Manufacturers were touting CD (Coefficient of Drag) Numbers like Horsepower Numbers. The Lower the Better. I would Love to see a New Aero War like we had back then, where Everyone was Aiming for the Lowest Drag Number for a Production Automobile.

It was a number we always looked at on the spec sheet. I don't care if it's high but I would like to know...I already bought the car.

It"s kinda like the weight thing for 2015 Mustang, it was going to lose a bunch of weight over the S197 class, but it went the wrong way towards the +++++ side and everyone beat FORD up, must be the wind CO test went the same route, and after the bad C/Q issues of past, there afraid to speak,Not all Mustang guys have that warm fuzzy feeling on what Ford has been doing to our beloved Mustang of late, and the way things have turned out can"t really blame them, good luck on your search for the truth, it"s out there somewhere and so are the XXXXX files.

According to corvettec7fiasco.blogspot.com the Cd of the 2015 mustang is 0.32

Not sure how reliable the source is though

I think it would have to be higher than 0.32 ... reason being, the C5 Z06 Vette is 0.32 and just by looking at the two car's design there's no way the new Mustang is the same Cd.

My guess would be more like 0.35~0.36.

Hard telling without actual flow testing. The hood vents allow air to move across the radiator and back out of the engine bay and over the hood which helps to cut down on front bumper and motor stagnation point. Also, a very large portion of drag comes from how the streamlines break away from the car. With the mustang having a smaller ass end than the corvette, the streamlines will depart more easily and create less vortex shedding on the mustang.

I'm not saying .32 is accurate but I believe the mustang aerodynamic technology could be (and should be) as good as ~16 year old corvette aerodynamic tech.

0.32 is believable, I'd like to know the real numbers too, but I guess it would be around that. Probably more likely to be at that number or higher than lower though. I was looking at new Jaguars last week and the XF (I think) model has a CD of 0.26, and it is a 4-door car that doesn't LOOK as slippery as a Mustang.

Theres a reason why most sedans are all shaped pretty much the same way now. It's a very good way to reduce drag. The tesla model S has a .24. It doesn't look nearly as "efficient" as a mustang. But it's going to be much better in real world testing.

1986 Ford ThunderBird was .36 CD.

If that Vette has a lot of downforce, that could take an otherwise clean design and increase the drag quite a bit. If the Mustang has less downforce, it could have a better cd even if it's not really "clean."

I think you're probably right, but there could be features we're not seeing without some flow vis.

It would be neat to see a comparison with the active shutters engaged.
