Not sure how that helps him...don't spend the money that you don't have on the GT, buy the EB and spend the money that you don't have, with us for mods.It could definitely be worse! The EcoBoost is a ton of fun and there's literally gobs of potential in there to make it a very formidable sleeper on the streets! Let me know if there's anything I can help out with on your modding quest and best of luck!
Alex
If i went with the GT i would be paying almost 700 a month combined with my car payment. With the EcoBoost at least it'll be a little over 500 combined a month. Not sure how that helps him...don't spend the money that you don't have on the GT, buy the EB and spend the money that you don't have, with us for mods.
You have to respect a man that knows his limitations. Good on you OP!
Once just for the heck of it...I did what the Geico commercial said, I took fifteen minute to save 15%. B.S. Not only was it not 15% less than I was paying for my current Insurance, it was 15% more.
Shop around! I'm in CA and use AAA. I've checked Geico, Progressive, Farmers, Alstate...AAA gave me the best price. And it's not in 6 month increments, I pay monthly, which doesn't sting as much. Its better than coming up with that huge NUT every 6 months.
Again... If $200 a month is noticeable enough in your budget to sway your decision, you shouldn't have been considering a GT in the first place. If i went with the GT i would be paying almost 700 a month combined with my car payment. Because I'm moving next year, i have to be conservative in how i spend my money. I live in HI, where insurance rates are cheaper than the rest of the country. Im used to paying 60-70 a month for insurance, and here, a GT was gonna be about 90/month for insurance. I could live with that. Until i researched insurance prices where I'm gonna be living next year, and i cannot afford that at all. Would've been almost 200/month, and by comparison an EcoBoost would be slightly over 100. Still high by what I'm used to, but i can live with it.To the OP, no worries. I know others are beating the drum about how the extra 500 is no sweat but even if it wont make you eat canned food while your making payments, one can appreciate someone who sets financial limits for themselves. I can understand that 190/month is too much to pay for a car by principle (although I have no idea how fair that is judging by your record or the geographic location's normal rates). I myself could have swung a GT but the question becomes how much one really wants to personally invest in a car, regardless of if they can 'afford the payments'. Yes, it could be much worse than $190, but it is a good thing to have those limits for yourself.
The Ecoboost will not throw you in your seat like the GT and it builds speed so smoothly and linearly (even despite any lag or boost), you dont feel it before you are getting into serious speeds. The EB will breeze to triple digit speeds and has plenty of punch. If you were set on a GT there will obviously be a little disappointment at first, but this is a heck of a car that puts down numbers in line with most German coupes far more expensive
